today, in a high gear, on a perfectly suited uphill rise, i was thinking how wonderful is this vintage machine. un moment de joie existentielle!
I prefer very old bikes, but don't ride them exclusively. My Motobecane Sprint is my only modern bike.

So nice...

Edith got her front wheel re-laced with some shiny stainless spokes and found the Soubitez lens and light assembly for her front light so she is looking much more complete and also switched the tyres to Paselas.

She is looking better than ever now and need to get her out for a new batch of photos.

The ss spokes, spiffy new Paselas, and the lens are possibly the only things that could have improved on Edith's looks. I am looking forward to the snaps.

Brigitte is taken already although she is in retirement...

Edith was named after Piaf... another great 50's model.

And when I am referencing photos it is easier to type than "1957peugeotplx8grandetourisme:.

We are getting some nice overcast days which seem to make for the best lighting... should get out tomorrow if there is no rain as I am overdue for some nice shooting.

Here some pics of a Peugeot PR60 Gentleman Deluxe 1978 I recently received from a friend.
Great bike. Beautiful finish.
I'm looking for a original rear light since mine is broken. (see pic)

Thanks guys.
The Sauvage-Lejeune is "early 60s" - that's all that can be determined so far, and that's based largely on the components. It has the second generation Huret Allvit derailleurs, which came out in 1961. It's a 65 cm frame center-to-top.
The Bailleul is quite a bit earlier, and is somewhere around 63 cm - but I didn't measure it, so don't know for certain.

Which blue Motobecane is that, and from what year? It's got the same paint job as one I owned in college, which I loved but unfortunately sold in lean times. I think mine was a higher-end model, but I always loved that paint job.

Well.. while this thread is on the up, I'll post this. What I believe is a '74 Gitane Tour de France which I bought from the original owner. Originally I picked it up to make a few bucks off of, but you know how buying bikes in your size goes, this thing is a fantastic rider!

It's pretty rough, but structurally perfect and pretty much all there. No restoration or anything like that in my immediate plans, it's beausage.

Way cool bike. Never saw that model before this. It's a keeper.
