I just sold this one off last night - a mid 70's Urago mixte. Full Huret drive train and a closely spaced Atom freewheel, with wingnuts on the rear axle.

Hi There Mr. Peugeot!
Just found out today that I'm the proud new owner of a 1980 Gitane "Tricolor". French thoroughbred - VITUS frame with Simplex/Spidel/Stronglight/Maillard co-op group. Color blue, of course.

Here is my Gitane. I believe it is a 1980 Criterium but there's no model name. It has Super Vitus 971 tubing with a 980 fork and all the components and the lack of chrome tips match the catalog for a Criterium.
I have a tubular wheelset on the bike in the picture. The bike came with a Spidel wheelset with Mavic Module E's. The closeup is of the original rear wheel.
Save for the pedals and brake cables, it was all original. However, the edge of the 22.0/25.4 stem took a gouge out of the 25.0 bars and the resulting chip got wedged between stem and bar where it carved an annular groove all the way around the bar. The stem was gouged a bit too. I got a new stem and bar from Nitto. The bike may have been sidelined due to the loose bar; it looked practically unused when I got it.

The original tubular wheels on my 1974 PX10LE were tied and soldered at the factory.

A 1973 PX-10 followed me home this week just like ^^^this one^^^ only with Nervex lugs. No pictures, wrong wheels; wrong stem...don't know what I will do with it.

Does anybody know why there are/were so few individual French frame builders? Except for the Singer, I don't think a single one has been posted. It's been pretty much all Pug's, Moto's and Gitane's (which are fine with me, btw).
