I just sold this one off last night - a mid 70's Urago mixte. Full Huret drive train and a closely spaced Atom freewheel, with wingnuts on the rear axle.

Yeah - he was thrilled... nay, overjoyed with it. Thing is, it is a 22" frame, and so rather big for a mixte. But - if your girlfriend happens to be taller, it becomes a tremendous gift opportunity.
He said he was going to move the shifters up on the bars and use thumbies, which is a good idea for its' intended use as a path/coffee bike. I saved the Ideale 42 saddle for later.

Here is my Gitane. I believe it is a 1980 Criterium but there's no model name. It has Super Vitus 971 tubing with a 980 fork and all the components and the lack of chrome tips match the catalog for a Criterium.
I have a tubular wheelset on the bike in the picture. The bike came with a Spidel wheelset with Mavic Module E's. The closeup is of the original rear wheel.
Save for the pedals and brake cables, it was all original. However, the edge of the 22.0/25.4 stem took a gouge out of the 25.0 bars and the resulting chip got wedged between stem and bar where it carved an annular groove all the way around the bar. The stem was gouged a bit too. I got a new stem and bar from Nitto. The bike may have been sidelined due to the loose bar; it looked practically unused when I got it.

My stable (big part of - plus a Spaniard, a Kraut):
https://www.radklassiker.org/?cat=174〈=en
Highly original ones (except from tires, bar tape, grease / from above):
the black PY60 "prestige", both PY10s, the PA60, C37 CD (see "older entries") and the aliens.
None of my Peugeots has been treated with paint or even got a new paintjob.
The black PR60 is highly non-original, my randonneur-bike and commuter ...and from the junk.
Watch the brass-wired spokes of the white 1976 PY10 (optional factory equipment)

The original tubular wheels on my 1974 PX10LE were tied and soldered at the factory.

A 1973 PX-10 followed me home this week just like ^^^this one^^^ only with Nervex lugs. No pictures, wrong wheels; wrong stem...don't know what I will do with it.
Otherwise:
1973 Gitane Tour d'France being used for my main commuter (tubular tires and all):

1972 Gitane Super Corsa Fixed gear (kittens be d$%ned):

You were also free to choose from all (available Peugeot-?) colors so I stroke lucky the first owner whom I bought the bike from fortunately wanted a black one - like me.
I was extremely fortunate to get ahold of a PY60 at all, my absolute dreambike (I never dreamt I would ever get one), what's more in black (and pristine condition).
These PY60-prestiges are rarer than hens teeth. I only know of one more PY60, a golden one, from 1977 as well.
As far as I can see these custom-built models were not even featured in most non-french European Peugeot-catalogs. This is a 1978 German brochure:
https://forum.tour-magazin.de/attachm...3&d=1209758075
Regarding the 60's and 70's high end Peugeots from stock, it is my impression that black was only available on the german market and only in 1977/78 for the PR60 gentleman-model.

Were the "gentlemen"-series Peugeots (PA/PR/PX60) available in America?

Does anybody know why there are/were so few individual French frame builders? Except for the Singer, I don't think a single one has been posted. It's been pretty much all Pug's, Moto's and Gitane's (which are fine with me, btw).

the Peugeot PY60 "prestige" ("gentlemen" guise) was built by specially trained craftsmen only to customers order and his special body-measurements and gearing preferences.
