If you use your lights often, you'll wonder why you waited to get a generator hub. They are pretty heavenly.

Yesterday I photographed my 'new' rebuilt 1980 Gitane Trophée. All parts are from Ebay. The frame came from France (69 euro). I 'collected' a complete and all original Shimano DURA ACE EX DD group. Stem and steering handle are Cinelli, seat is a (new) Rolls and the rims are black MAVIC GEL 280's.

Mine came with RX 100 to and it is indeed the original group.
I switched to dura-ace 7800/7900 because I wanted to upgrade.
I really love the features on these MBK Mirage's. Hidden rearbrake cable under the toptube, Seatstay attachment, special welding. seatpost fixing grub and short wheelbase.
Only downside is the harsh ride because of the stiff Columbus Aelle tubing which isn't the lightest either. That's why I fitted a carbon fork to soften it up a bit.

I still got the original group and fork btw.

Your Mirage looks very nice to. Treat her well. They are getting rare...

Indeed, they are little heavy (factory says 11,2 kgs) , but the frame has an exceptional rigidity , it is my favorite bike for long rides ...

Here is my bike, it has pretty fat tires, as they work quite nicely in the wintery Finland. Don't have that much knowledge on the bike itself. I plan on putting some racks to the bike and do touring in the summer. The bike seems to be working quite nicely, i commute with it around 17 kilometers a day.

I hadn't posted my 1978 Motobecane C4 yet, it's in excellent, almost mint condition. Classic French comfort in under 10 kg.







If anyone is familiar with a drivetrain from the 70ies that is sexier and better shifting than the Huranium group, please step forward!

OK, for gala evenings, the bling wins. And the French fill-in is a stunner, je suis d'accord. But the SLJ doesn't come close to shifting as smooth as the Huret Succes, even with the retro shifters, and it weighs almost twice as much.

This is a mid/late 70s Mercier (300?) I found in France last year.
Sorry for the crummy photo with the lights & the lock still attached.
The frame had been rehabbed & has a replacement Zeus fork....unless somehow it was pieced together as new like that, as it was a former local pro/am team bike.
We were living up on the "Triplets of Belleville" hill (the film's depiction is not far from the reality), and this bike made light work of that daily climb.

Is that titanium? I can't understand why they chose to paint their titanium derailers. Bare titanaium is attractive and, of course, it doesn't rust.
