1996 peugeot "chrono 1000"

Now it is a "vintage"...this light (9,3 kgs) 1996 PEUGEOT "CHRONO 1000" all alloy frame and fork is probably one of the last glorious winner racing bike made by PEUGEOT (in fact CYCLEUROP) Yellow and blue are the original racing colours of PEUGEOT , some parts are not originals (wheels and crankset)

Here's my first winter project bike for this year:

I know the Pug U08 is fairly ubiquitous, but I've made a lot of improvements to this one. No more cottered crank or cup-n-cone BB; this one now has a V.O. cartridge BB and let's see if you can guess what that crankset is. Velo Orange also supplied the hammered alloy black fenders, the wheels are Mavic MA2s laced into Weyless hubs. Drivetrain is a 1x5 Suntour VX-S which replaced the plastic Simplex, and I've installed a thumb shifter for that. Handlebar is a Dimension riser with Ergon GC1 Biokork grips, and the saddle is original ADGA black leather, now going brown.

That saddle... very dry and hard when I bought the bike, it soaked up almost a whole tin of Proofide over the course of a week on nightly applications. When I came home from work on Friday and found residue still on the outside, I polished it up and called it bon. The ride is magnifique; très lisse et confortable.

I had a Brain bike with shaped downtube and it was stiff enough to be a great climber.
What a good pic.

@DQRider Your build are so unique and attractive, especially combined with your eye for a great photo shoot. I used my U08 in much the same manner, a canvas for modifying and improving the original to suit my taste.
@Pogliaghi Great looking Follis.

Thanks, @greg3rd48 and @jpaschall. Bikes to me are simply art that you can use. The photos are trophies for great rides.
@Pogliaghi - That derailleur is incredible! Did that come from the factory with all that "drillium"? And the bike - Gorgeous!

Yes the later Jubilee derailleur came with the drilled pulley cage making the already light unit even lighter! It really is a beautiful derailleur - like a piece of jewelry.

Magnifique ! This is a very beautiful racing bike...Follis was also a great French specialist for these bikes named in France "randonneurs", as SINGER, HERSE, ROUTENS and MERAL ...

After the above Follis this may seem a C & V crime but I slapped this together out of curiosity and now find I love it. Thanks to Bikedude for the swap and who I hope enjoys the Simoncini frame I sent. I had a nice U08 in college and seriously did not like aluminum road bike frames in the past, but had a Giant 980c bonded frame pass through my shop and enjoyed the ride so jumped at the swap.
DA 9 speed other than the 126 hub which is a 600 6 spd with the freehub changed out for a 8,9,10 as I did not want to spread the frame. Laced H Plus Son TB14s on and am very impressed with the ride even with the narrow 23mm tires (I run 25s and 28s on my bikes).

Yes. In case you missed it, look at this thread. The original poster surprised everyone when he put up pictures of the "commute" bike: a beautiful Follis randonneur model.

Okay - I did a bit of research and apparently the drilled version was a bit heavier that the non drilled because Huret had to beef up the pulley cage because it was drilled! Well it does have the aesthetics going for it I suppose Certainly can't be much difference though.

+1 One of the prettiest I have seen in a long time. I have to say, though, I think maybe your chainrings are feeling left out and need to be drilled!

That is a stunning bike, in a lovely setting, in a beautiful photograph. It appears that life is good in the south of France...

Apparently true - who would have thunk it! I suppose Huret thought that people would naturally think it has to be lighter because it is drilled. Well I was fooled.

I've had this Grand touring for several years now. I bought it from the original owner's son for $10. I scavanged the crankset off of it about four years ago for another build, so it sat in the garage for a long time. Last night I got it back together, with hopes to get some miles on it.

Not a high end piece, but rides nice.
