Drilled Out Rims

The good news-- I bought another 87 schwinn circuit. This one for 25 bucks. And it is even my size.

The bad news-- the rims were drilled out.

The rims are de Rigida Racing rims. I am not sure if that is the model or not, or how good these rims were. The hubs are suntour sprint. They appear to be in pretty good shape.

I am guessing a previous owner wanted to use schrader tubes. But the holes are even bigger than they would need to be for schrader tubes. I am guessing that the driller used a 3/8 inch drill bit. A 25/64 bit will fit in the hole, but a 13/32 will not.

So are these rims ruined? Could they be used by a lighter rider? I am 210 plus, but maybe my wife could use them?

Keep the hubs and don't forget to take the freewheel off before you unlace the rim.

you could do that but.. the hole is so big we are concerned about the structure of the rim being safe to ride on.
