Mounting Rear Derailleur

I just bought a 81 schwinn sports tourer whith the cheap stamped dropouts. How does the deralilleur attach to the thing? There is a hole in the RD that looks like a small bolt goes through but none in the frame. Am I missing a part?

No, you buy the thing brian linked to, though the link is broken. Click here. It bolts onto the dropout.

I figured it out. I just need to get bolt/nut and a big washer for the back.

It does not sound to me like you have figured it out. I strongly advise that you get the proper bracket if you want your bicycle to work well.

See if this link works. You need an adapter claw. Most cheaper derailleurs are already mounted on one, so maybe a local shop has one they can give you.

And you need a clue of how to do this:

And what to check BEFORE to attach a claw and how to make it work:

Do it right. Or tell me where you're buying stuff - I'll buy stock!
