Where to buy brake hoods for 1984 Raleigh Competition?

My 1984 Raleigh Competition has been in storage for the past 21 years and the brake hoods are dry rotted. Can anyone recommend a source to purchase brake hoods for this model?

I've seen them on ebay. People usually fight over them and pay big money. When I was younger, having "gum hoods" meant that you had the "good bike." Now I don't care much about that. I removed my dried up hoods and got the brake levers plus safety brakes without hoods. Have fun bidding!

The first thing you need to do is identify your brake levers.

If you're right about the year, you have aero gran compe 250 levers. There's a set of hoods on Ebay for $47 shipped.

It would be cheaper to replace the brake levers. Oh, and if you need pads Yellow Jersey has them for the discounted price of $50 a set.

+10 Depends which levers you have. I use the Cane Creek hoods, Niagara sells them for $6 last time I loaded up. Here's some on the 1983 Olympian I just cleaned up. I hand cut these to allow the turkey lever mechanism to come through the hood.

Just checked the price, they are now $7.99 at Niagara.

If it is for a keeper, I usually just get the Pyramid Aerolevers at Niagara, which are less than $12, complete with lever hoods.

Great suggestions! I think I'll go for the Cane Creek hoods and try to cut them to size. What is the Niagra web link? Thanks.
