Centurion LeMans headset

Hello,

I have what I think is a 1986 Centurion LeMans RS, serial number N6N8748, that I've converted into a three-speed commuting bike. I need to replace the headset -- anyone know what are the specs? Thanks much.

Josh

Just get a Tange Passage for about $10 and you'll be fine. I think it's pretty standard.

Thanks -- but what size?

1" threaded since both the frame and headset are japanese there should be no other issues. I could be wrong but I think Robbie is the resident Centurion expert

And the diameter? 26.4 or 27.0? (Thanks again...)

So, I'm exposing my ignorance of headsets here, but does it not matter what the diameter is, 26.4 or 27.0?

only the crown race but it I think it is 27.0. that seems to be only size this HS comes in hopefullt Robbie will chime in soon and set me straight

sorry to bump such and old thread, but.. couldn't find the answer from searches.. is the size needed for a 86/87 lemans 27.0/30.2 or 27.0/30.0?

Regardless of what a bike originally came with, I have found a couple of oddballs out there. There is no substitute for proper measurement with a digital caliper.

I had a late 1980s bike with a 26.2 crown once. That was a PITA.

Tange Passage comes in both 27.0 and 26.4 sizes.

wrk101 thanks for the response. the bike is all in 1 piece now, guess i could spend a while taking the thing apart and measuring with calipers but thought i'd try here first :)

thank you for the product links too i appreciate it!

Most likely a 26.4. Fortunately for me, I keep a handful of headsets in hand of various sizes. Remember stack height too, that can change everything. The bike I had above with the 26.2 crown race also had a very short stack height.

26.4 was the most common, I believe, but truthfully, I've never looked at mine.
With a 1" threaded steerer, I'm thinking 26.4. I'm fairly sure I bought a 26.4 Tange Passage for mine.
