the wall just to look at. They are beatiful.

Delta. They brake like ****

I think so too. Right now, they are just so plentiful that the value just won't get traction. But as we put more and distance between us and the 70's, I think we are going to see that change. Plus, maybe we have to put more distance between us and any silly old ideas that Japanese products are cheap. But when these things happen, watch out.

+1, the Ofmega Mistral cranks. They are like no others in
design. I've got them (OEM) on my "Centurionelli" too,
complete with Mistral BB (and headset as well).

Hmmm... The OP might be hoarding an Ofmega Mistral crankset
too as he also has a Centurionelli. He swapped it out, if
memory serves, for a compact triple to accommodate north
NJ's hill country. RobbieTunes might be hoarding one too.

I must confess to hoarding spare NOS Ofmega Mistral
crankset, BB and HS. I just couldn't resist them seven
years ago when they appeared on eBay over a span of a few
months. They were cheap then but not now... that is if you
can find them. I don't think I paid more than about $60
for the lot, including shipping. Don't know if I'll ever
use them but if I sell my Centurionelli I might get more
for it with the spares.

Nah, it was missing. Although it does have very nice machining, I'm really not a big fan of the twisted spider look. Seems unnecessarily 'futuristic' looking to me. I'll have to agree with you on the 600 EX star headset, though. A work of art.

Oh, and I replaced my crankset with a 'road' triple, not a 'compact' triple. It's bad enough to be impugned for riding a road triple! (I've got the compact triple on another bike)
I guess my lust set is the Ofmega group, crankset and RD above, with the shifters, FD, and hubs... I must confess to having a spare 600EX headset, but I believe I sent my 2 Ofmega cranksets off to CA and IL, one to a guy who insists on a non-Campy, all-Italian bike.

I'm working on a set of Superbe Pro hubs, maybe trade them for some Ofmega hubs....would make a nice set of tubulars for an Equipe...

Agree on the Mistral cranks. Although there were some imitators, e.g. Sakae Ringyo, but nobody did it as well as Ofmega.

I've got a Sakae CR triple, and it's functional but definitely lacks the sex appeal of the Ofmega pieces. I have no rational need for them, but I wouldn't mind a Mistral set.

One of the things i always found interesting about the Mistral crank is that it's aerodynamic teardrop styling appears functionally backwards. Sugino & Sakae got it correct with there aero designs. Not that there is any true advantage, it's only a design exercise. Still, i would like to imagine that the design was based on aerodynamic theory. I blame it on those emotional non analytical thinking Italians.
