White Campy Aero Levers?
 

I picked up a ratty old International frame yesterday, and I'm wasting my time here at work thinking about how to build it up.

I've had Mafacs w/white half hoods and white grips on my bike fro a while, and really really liked the way they looked - but they work like crap. I have Ergos on my bike now, and love the way they work - I will never go back to old style, but hte hoods are black and that doesn't work at all on the International.

And, for this build, I don't need brifters, since I have nice DT shifters with white rubber handles on them, but I DO need white hoods and the ease of operating the brakes from the hoods. And, of course, they would need to be Campy since Mafac didn't live long enough to make these kinds of levers.

Does what I am describing exist, and what's it called/look like?

Are something like these cantilevered the saem way as modern levers?

those lever will work, but they ae not ideal. what I beleive we both need are the early '90s Record levers with the 'powergrade' feature. I am using a pair like the ones on the ebay listing with deore lx cantis and the work well

Am I right in assuming that the big difference between Ergo brakes and old style is the pivotpoint is moved back and down? I googled Powergrades and they are beautiful, but really Really REALLY expensive. eBay has them at $260! But boy, are they beautiful:

It's just so much easier to brake from the hoods on my ergos. I want that same feel, and the power to brake hard that comes with it. Maybe I should just forget it and get some other make. I haven't found them in white yet, but these seem to be the same design:

Campyoldy has the powergrade brakelevers for £65, that is where I got mine from.

if by ergo you are refering to the late '80s early '90s Aero levers the biggest difference was of course being aero. the piviot point was slightly different and the cables exited out the rear. IIRC the "powergrade" levers were designed to increase the force applied to the brake lever to make the imfamous Delta brakes function better. I also believe they were suplied with the short lived tandem groupo to use with the cantilevers

to the best of my knowledge there were three types of the early campi aero levers

the Cobalto which had no QR button as the Cobalto brakes had a QR

the Chorus era with the QR button. both these and the Cobalto had the small cable guide plate (quite often missing on Ebay)

then the power grade lever thet went with the deltas as stated above. the powergrade had a QR button and routed the cable directly from the 'anchor' into the cable but multiplied your effort to stop LOL

The ergo I am refering to is mid 90s 8 speed ergos - the leverage you have on the brakes from up in the hoods is radically better than old Mafacs or Wiennemens...sorry I'm so lousy at framing a question. I am looking for that same braking experience in a white Campy brake lever.
