OK: here are some answers I got from Chad Krueger at Oregon Cyclewear today:

He's happy to give us the 40+ discount if we get enough orders to meet that.
The order can be composed of any combination of sizes, styles and colors. I forgot to ask if the full-zip style is discounted to the same price as standard long-sleeve, when ordering 40+ jerseys; but I'll try to remember that in a day or so. Based on response so far, though, I'd be surprised if we get 40+ orders together.

Right now, he's out of Red long-sleeve in sizes L and XL, and won't be getting more anytime soon. He's also out of Black w/Red long-sleeve in sizes L, XL and XXL; but he will get more of those in about 30 days.

He said that shipping to NYC should be about $1/jersey for an order of 40+.

I asked about a logo -- there are a lot of variables here, maybe too much to satisfy enough people. Cost to apply a logo is $13 surcharge for each jersey (embroidery, classier IMO) or $3.50 per jersey for flocked. It's possible to mix an order with both logo and no logo jerseys, and still get the discount applicable to the total number of jerseys. But the color has to be the same on all jerseys. He told me that setup charge for a logo is $75; but website says that's for custom logo, and doesn't apply to the standard fonts. For flocked custom logo setup, $35, again cheaper.

I got the full list of standard fonts: about 50, but most of them not so great, in my opinion. I will try to mockup a proposal using standard font(s). My idea was a double-line on front (back instead?) with CLASSIC & VINTAGE over bikeforums.net. Not ironic, but wait to see it before passing judgment.

I haven't done any homework of my own on the cost of shipping to subscribers, but I looked at IAB's template from last year: cost of bulk shipping, drop ship to subscribers, and Paypal surcharge for withdrawal of funds ended up being $8 per jersey for Tyvek envelope and $11 for a USPS flat-rate box; add $2 for insurance.

As far as a review goes: I got a red XL long sleeve, and I'm happy with it. It's not perfect knitting (a couple slubs), but it's quite comfortable. I'm a Large in everything, with 16 neck and 34-35 sleeve, but the XL fits me just fine. I do wear it usually with something underneath (turtleneck or shirt).

I'll also post this as an addendum to my thread starter, and I'll put any new info there, too, so nobody has to scroll through the entire thread looking for it.

Your efforts to organize this are highly appreciated, and I can't wait to see what these look like. I personally love the idea of the C&V over Bikeforums.net thing.

What colors are we going with? I really like like this one from the home page, but I don't know if it is the Formula 1 Red or if he doesn't carry it anymore.

Otherwise, I like the black and red.

or black

I'll take a chance on two one simple green one blue, unless we go with the "Classic $ Vintage" campi script logo I guess I'll have Bianchi and Campi put on them. like an old school racing jersey.

OH the SS don't come in full zip?

Here's my attempt at using the standard fonts available at Oregon Cycle Wear. It's one called Dauphin, both the top and bottom lines. My suggestion would be to have it done as shown, with the two lines perhaps a bit closer together, in black over the white stripe.

I think that the advantage of this is that there would not be a setup charge ($75 for an embroidered logo), but I need to confirm that tomorrow. If there's no setup charge, then I believe logo would cost $13 per jersey where it's applied.

If you like this approach, please say Aye. And indicate whether you'd prefer embroidered or flocked.

Regarding something custom, that would definitely incur the setup charge, and I've never seen a full Campagnolo font, anyway!

No, the full-zip “trainer” is LS only, and only two colors available for it.

Flocked logo is where the letters are sewn on (I'm referring to the first jersey Beech has in his post above)? I think those look nice, as I've never liked the feel of embroidered stuff on any jersey.

I'd also be fine with just a plain jersey, but whatever you guys decide. If you want the details of what I'd get:
1 long sleeve jersey. Fractional zip. Red/blue design like the 'Oregon Randonneur' that Beech posted (you said he was out of larges and such, I wear a small) or a red/black.

I guess I'd prefer embroidered, but I'd go with the majority opinion on that.

I believe that the only colors/styles available are those illustrated on the Orders page, and described thus:
Simple Green, Formula One Red, Strong Blue, Phantom Black (in 2 styles). Also Full Zippered relaxed fit in Blue & Black W-Red.

-- but I'll check on that.

You don't need to go through any extra effort for me. I was just voicing my opinions. If you guys want embroidery, I'm cool with it. I know how to wear a base layer.

If I remember my old wool jerseys correctly, flocked lettering was sort of fuzzy iron on (or some sort of super strong adhesive) lettering.

Am I remembering right? Or am I confused with something else?

(I wish I had my old Panasonic Raleigh Team wool trainer. But a wicked crash on a team ride tore it up pretty good... )

You are right. I figured it out afterwards.

As said before, I'm cool with whatever. As long as it's at least at the 12person discount.

+1, I wear a base layer - so either is fine with me as long as we get the 12+ discount.
I would prefer embroidery - afterall, in going through all the effort, shipping, etc.. let's make it nice.
The plain versions and embroidery gives a low/higher cost option. If allowed - I vote to keep it simple.

Thanks...

I'd love to joinin, but the sizes don't include enough "X's" before the "L" for this big boy.

I'm interested; what's the deadline? I'd probably buy one, don't need the embroidery but if it was the only way to get into the group buy I could probably suck it up.

Hi - I dont' participate in this forum and thus am not really interested in any C&V logo, but I'd still be willing to participate in the group buy. I'm interested in a short sleeve (M or L) in red.

There's a choice: either plain, or with the flocked (or embroidered) logotype.

I'm interested in a short sleeve - since no M is listed, I'd go for an L. That typeface looks fine.

We're up to 25-26. I'm trolling for interest in the Internet-BOB mailing list, in hopes of getting the count up to 40, for the deeper discount.

I got the following information from Chad Krueger:

If we do the logo as I suggested above, using one of the standard fonts, there is no setup fee.

We could mix no-logo, embroidered logo, and flocked letter logo (there's also an embroidered with border) in the group order, so long as the style of each is constant. Both flocked and embroidered with border have only a few fonts available -- go to this page and look them over if you'd prefer one of those rather than embroidered with the Dauphin font as I illustrated above. I think that, “CLASSIC & VINTAGE” being rather long, both that and the second line “bikeforums.net” would fit in the stripe, unless it's the red or black jersey with two-color stripe; then I'd do the two in the two stripes. For flocked, I think that the Galaxy caps would look good for C&V, and the Athletic Script for BF.net, while for the embroidery with border, there's only one typeface choice, Pro Block, with a second line possible in regular embroidery. My opinion is that CLASSIC & VINTAGE is too much text for the size of letters shown, so I'd prefer not to get into that, and just leave the choice between Embroidered and Flocked.

He confirmed also that the only colors available are those shown on the Order Jerseys page, not any of the additional ones shown on the Home page.
