24" wheels?
I have just got my self a vintage Raleigh mini velo witch runs 24" inch wheels for my son. But the problem we have is that it need some new rims and tyres..
I have searched the forum and Google as much as I could but can find anywhere that sells good road race wheels, rims or tyres.. Anyone have any ideas? |

Do they need the 547mm, 540mm, 520mm, or 507mm rims that are all labeled 24"? I will guess the 540mm size rim which is the same as most wheelchairs. Also called the 600A size. Also called 24" x 1 3/8". Or you could go with the 520m aka 24" x 1"
Both tyres can be found here: http://www.everybicycletire.com/Shopping/c-17-24.aspx The 520mm rim: http://www.everybicycletire.com/Shop...ohead-rim.aspx 520mm wheelset: http://www.everybicycletire.com/Shop...elset-520.aspx If you build your own wheels, the Aerohead rim sold separately will be the "racier" one. Plus you can get the hubs of your choice. |
Thanks very much for that it should be all the information i needed...

I got these for my kids bikes and they love them! a big step up from the standard MTB tire they had. I pump them hard and they roll well on the paved bike trails , but the kids can still have fun around the campground

I had a 24x1 1/4 (547mm) Varsity that would have been able to use a 26" (559) rim with a skinny street tire (like 26x1.00) with no problem.
I also had a junior Motobecane with some skinny 24" wheels. I forget the exact size but I still have them if you want them. They're steel but they're in decent shape. |
