Great job! I guess that’s why they call it Heartbreak hill?
congrats on your 1st place category.
What sort of comments did did you get from other riders?

That bike is like a cultural commentary on the difference between Canada and the US. Ted Williams bike and Baseball while Canada used a sports figure from hockey for their bikes branding.
I would not mind some close up pics if you have them!

Beautiful machine! Such a classic and in the golden timeframe of Raleigh workmanship. You are lucky to ride it!

Not perfect! Just got back from delivery rides on the scorcher. Found the old”challenge” tool bag I used to hang on it. While giving the various bolts a tight check found that the trigger cable fulcrum has had a bang. A metal one is in its future.

I like that Scorcher look. I think I will do that to my 1956 Rigby Brothers bike. The fenders are beat up and rusty and it would be too much to restore it back to original

Aesthetically perfect.
This is my preferred style.
If I could just get my back and neck to agree....

I'm thinking about getting some of these Kool-Stop "John Bull"-style brake pads so that I can re-use the original holders on my Armstrong. Anybody have experience with the fit? https://www.ebay.com/itm/324430427215

Nice paint, but missing chainguard. I'll pass at $750.

But a Gordie Howe elbow to the face? Priceless! He was as skilled and dirty as the day is long.

My father used to be a policeman at Maple Leaf Gardens so he got tickets all the time. I was fortunate enough to see all the greats from the 60s and early 70s. Even saw Bobby Orr score on his own net twice in one game.

I completed the Santa Fe Century yesterday on my 1952 Raleigh Superbe Sports Tourist, but only just - I finished fifteen minutes before the event closed. The route is 106.2 miles, (plus the six mile ride there and back from my house), and there is 5041 feet of elevation gain. It wasn't as hard as I thought it might be, because I did not have to give up, but I can't lie and say it was a pleasant jaunt through the desert southwest. The climb through the pass through the Chisos Mountains was a long, slow grind, and I had to walk up Heartbreak Hill in the San Pedro Mountains. (I was not the only one.) There was hail and a tremendous wind associated with the storm front that just about quashed my spirits, but I persevered. The Raleigh performed flawlessly throughout. I claim first place in the century in the category "bicycles with a full chaincase."

At the start, when there were still quite a few other riders around me.

We can all stand down. The Roadster was in name only. Not an English model and certainly not with what we attribute a roadster has...
This is a (1979 6) SA AW hub, foreign made Raleigh which looks more like a regular Sport. They called it a Roadster. I picked it up anyway because of the the 23” frame and relative good condition.

Took it for a long slow roll around the neighborhood after giving the hub a drink of oil. Shifting was adequate.
Nothing is stuck and easily adjusted to my fit. Being a non English model has me thinking on changing a few things to make it better while still keeping the proper attitude. Might even switch in a few real Raleigh components in there.
Now for a much needed Saddle decision!

From a Raleigh USA catalog:
Model designate is R-32, came in ultra black or flamboyant red. Described as an English styled touring bike.
