It's not English, and it's not a 3-speed, but here's the bike I've got set up as my winter/wet-weather beater. It has Sturmey-Archer drum brake hubs, with a 5-speed in the rear. It's a bit of a frankenbike that's gone through a few different iterations - the previous build was on a different frame, with a 1971 AW hub laced into a CR18 to match the front wheel, and drop bars with an STI lever controlling the 3-speed hub. A friend gave me the 5-speed wheel in a trade for a cassette wheel I had lying around, and I decided I wanted an upright bike this winter...and it's on a different frame because the seatpost got seized into the other one!

My wife and I took our annual visit to her mother in Palm Beach, Florida. We keep bikes of our own there, and that's where I keep my Rudge. I got to ride it three times over five days.
It got super dusty in the bike room over the year. After shooting this picture, I wiped it down a bit. The saddle is rotting, and the rear rim is rusting, but so far, so good.

Not interested in the bike just because it's '50s, and not interested in a 21" anyway. Hard for me to tell about the rims, as I said. Not interested otherwise, but if they were alloys it's the only thing that would interest me. I could swap them over to my own Sports. Does not seem reasonable that someone would have gone to the trouble to lace them up for a bike that looks like that one. No offense to anyone who might have done exactly that.

Technically, I guess these don't belong here because the Sturmey 3-speeds are not on English bikes and the English bike is not a 3-speed.
We'd gone up to the Blue Ridge Parkway for a hike and then into Waynesboro after for ice cream, and drove past an antique shop with some old bikes out front, one with hand brakes and Sturmey trigger. Had to swing by on the way back. I was disappointed to see that the gold one with the peaked chrome fenders was a Huffy Sportsman, one of the gaspipe versions made in the good old US of A, not one of the foreign-built Huffy bikes. Hand brakes and Sturmey 3-speed on a crummy frame.

Hi All, great bikes lately. I've been away from bikes for a bit so haven't posted much. I did a complete tear down of a Raleigh Twenty with dynohub hub last Spring and before I could get it all reassembled, just walked away. Burned out? Maybe....
Anyway, I still have my three R20's - one painted and "modernized" and the other two, a '71 "Miss Molly", and a '73 still waiting for me to reinstall rear fender & rack. The '73 has front dynohub & lights what are broken.
I miss you folks.....
Oh, I'll add that one of my R20's hangs from a hook in the garage, and apparently I had the oil port facing down, so it leaked onto the rim & tire. No biggie, but when I rehung it, I used blue painters take to secure the rear wheel with the spout facing up!
Anyway, I still have my three R20's - one painted and "modernized" and the other two, a '71 "Miss Molly", and a '73 still waiting for me to reinstall rear fender & rack. The '73 has front dynohub & lights what are broken.

eBay usually has plenty, but they vary a great deal in overall length of cable and length of housing. Measure what you have first and go from there.

Although, this one has a casing that's way too long and would need to be cut.
But, keep the original knurled barrel adjuster and ferrule and even the original casing if it's in good enough condition in case you ever want to make up an original style cable yourself.

I finally got my ANT built up and rideable! Still needs a couple little details dealt with, but it rides really nicely. Here are some pictures I took of it on a quick test ride this afternoon:

Nice touch with the quadrant shifter, really sells the roadster vibe. Is it sub 30 lbs for the win?
