Yes, the landlord was asking for a big rent increase and they had to move.
They've got a new spot near Bloor and Dundas but I don't know the address.

Annoyingly the chaincase on the more original bike split open and warped, so it rubs the chain and makes an annoying noise. Maybe I'll bring it out of storage this summer, and see what I can do. The other is from just before they went cotterless and was a wreck, half the parts are from india now but I ride it everyday.

To clarify: HSB408 I used on the front and corrected the angle with weld, drill, file to shape. Sorry for the confusion, I see that you asked what number is on the back of the cam arm and thought you were asking about the rear cam arm (which should be part HSB 220). I didn't get to my DL-1 yesterday and am unlikely to see it again for a few more days.
Earlier on in this century (seems weird to say that!) there were still some rod-to-drum conversion kits being sold online but I haven't seen or heard of them for a long time. You may be able to piece together a set from individual parts from UK sellers.

I'm still looking for a rear access panel for a DL-1 chaincase if anyone has one they might be willing to part with, or sees one for sale, can they please let me know?

I wonder what the thinking was back then.
I can see the benefits of enclosing a chain and
an oil bath but.....
They can be a real pain in the ass when you need to change a tire
and they seem to rub as well.
Maybe a new chain was relatively expensive back then.

I think that the full chaincase may have the mother-of-invention for the pants clip.

I'm reading a book about the Apollo Space Program.
Bendix, well known for their 2 speed kick back hub also built
the navigation systems for the Saturn 5 rockets.


She's a "speedist" and should learn to be more tolerant and inclusive.

I'm with you. Our family stable has 3 active 2 speed kickbacks. I just think that ad would get a marketing student a failing grade, even in 61.
The brakes are the softest, surest, safest but when rare problems occur, take the hub to your dealer 'cuz he's a brake specialist?

Maybe Bendix wasn't allowed to promote their involvement in the space program, but straw hats on country girls doesn't work.

What was the tallest 'Ladies' frame Raleigh built?
A guy down the road from me has a 6 speed Raleigh Sprite in a ladies frame that's even big for me and I'm 6ft 3" tall with a 36" inseam. The frame resembles the silver Sports above but it sits taller than a comparable man's frame for some reason. I was thinking of buying it to swap the rear wheel over to my same year Sports but the darn ladies frame rides so well I'd hate to part it out. As I get older the step through frame is kind of nice.

Bendix was a very diverse company. Bicycle brakes, starter drives, aviation, air brakes, bicycle hubs. The list goes on.

Heh, with a name like Peugeot, I don't either. It does probably have a British built Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub and shifter though.

By the late 70's, there's was a lot more cross pollination going on than you suspect. In addition to the Raleigh rim pictured, I've got Michelin tires Made in England to fit it.

I've seen these older junior models in catalogs, but never found one here in the states. Good shape for a kid bike. They usually took a beating. At least my old Columbia sure did.

I've never seen one larger than 23" but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Sprite production might have been different from Sports production. Get a tape measure and post some pix of that bike. If it were significantly taller it would be obvious. In addition to my 23" men's Sports I have a 23" ladies' stashed away for future need, as you opined.
