I sold a 1950's Flying Pigeon to the same production.
This bike has been working just fine for 65 years.
The propsmaster called me yesterday to say to say
the rear wheel wouldn't turn.
I asked if an actor had touched the bike and
he said yes....
Actors have a strange and unique ability to break
anything they touch.
You could hand an actor a rock as a prop and it will
come back broken....

Aurora, my home town! Last time I visited from Australia, went for a ride with my uncle and baby brother (who was 6 when I moved to Toronto, and 16 I left Canada). I led them through so many 'hidden' paths and trails they didn't know about, I amazed even myself with my memory. Years and years of living on my bicycle in that town left me with a permanent mental map of the quickest and/or most fun way of getting around.

"One man gathers what another man spills" It was time to pass the baton. Last winter I built a version of a Sports on a Raleigh international frame - 8-speed Sturmey hub, Velo Orange Tourist handlebars, 35c Paselas with fenders, my trusty B66 and racks with a Wald basket up front. It's light, fast and fits me much better. My 10-year affair with my 1966 Sports has come to an end, and it has fittingly been picked up by a young man starting his adulting here in NYC. It was clearly love at first sight, and I was delighted to bid farewell knowing it was going to someone that will appreciate it as I have. And I want to acknowledge the many forum members here that contributed to my understanding and love for these great machines.

Oh yes, he was lit up by it. I told him they were built to last 100 years, so it's got another 50 left in it. This one showed all the signs of making it.

I just turned 30. My three-speed turns 71 in January. I'm hoping to hand it off to my kid in the future as you have. They're still really good city bicycles. I see quite a few three-speeds in various guises and levels of decrepitude rolling around Ottawa in regular use. With a little bit of maintenance every now and again they're sturdy and dependable. Give the AW / AG a rebuild every 20 years and you're set.

Just picked this one up from a local CL ad. Not a 3-speed, but with 590/EA3 wheels. Those plus the prestube minor rear rack makes me wonder if Raleigh just took Sports frames and slapped a different rear wheel and Huret shifting bits on them:

I usually see lots of these for sale on Kijiji, usually with the derailleur. I check these listings to see if the bike has the Sturmey S5 5-speed hub gear. I missed one here not long ago. I want one of those hubs for...research.

I wish the S5 hubs were more plentiful, they come up on Ebay here and there but they aren't cheap...

I have a similar bike. Same color same chain guard, same chain ring, but mine is a sprite 27. I used the wheels for my bluestreak project, and replaced them with a 700c Shimano nexus 3 speed setup. It is my go to everyday bike.
