Panaracer Gran Bois
Anybody have any long term experience with the Gran Bois? I was given a set of 700x28 and I will be using them on my A/D PUCH SLE. Primarily, I need a reasonably puncture proof tire. Thanks

I have maybe 600 miles on mine. Wear is very, very slight. The ride is delicious.

I have heard varying reports on the toughness/puncture proofness(?) of them, but almost everyone says they ride great. On a different forum I sometimes frequent one person road them on a 200K brevet and got three flats in that time. I highly doubt I will ever try them as they are really expensive. I pretty much use Panaracers' Pasela on the fatter tired bikes of mine. I use the folding TG version, and have yet to have a flat. There has been some talk on other places (bob list?) that the non-TG version rides better, but isn't as flat proof and is a little heavier.
The closest I can come to the GB tires is the pair of Challenge Parigi-Roubaix tires I have waiting to get tested out when the weather gets nicer. Is it spring yet? I guess I will be doing some personal tire testing in the spring/early summer as I do have the Challenge PR and some non-TG Paselas in two sizes to test out on a few of my bikes. |
Are the paselas TG really lighter than the standard paselas? Crazy...I'm looking into getting a pair of 27X1-1/8 for a Schwinn I've got...I'd be interested to know. Punctures aren't a big problem here, I"m just looking for a fast, light 27" tire that doesn't completely break my bank.
On topic, I'd kill to get a pair of GB cypres tires...but at $60 a piece, that's not gonna happen. |
Matt, the Continental Ultra Sports come in 27 1 1/8" as well. I'm a big fan of those, but have less experience with the Panaracers, which most folks seem to like.
I just put a set of Pasela TGs on my Lotus, but I'll have to wait for nicer weather to take them on the road. |
My Bank too
