the coolest vintage bike rack ever

Because its also a bike trailer.

The folding process is complex but its rock solid.

Made in the early 80s in england and never heard of since then.

All aluminum construction, it feels like an aircraft accesory and is rated for 55 lbs when a trailer, 22 lbs when a rack.
If the patent is expired I am going to try to reintroduce it to some local builders.
Ill get a video of it in action if its dry tomorrow.

Bikes: a heavy old steel Frankenbike Gitane, a cruiser (not something I'd buy for myself, but it was a gift, what can you do?), a Greg Lemond, a Specialized Stumpjumper(old, steel, fully rigid), and a Specialized Safire

That is downright practical! It would be nice to see something like this resurface.

VERY COOL!!!!
You really should post this over on the Utility forums trailer thread as well
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...-thread/page14

I can see hear the gears turning in all of the home tinkerers heads. How can I make one of those? LOL

DO WANT! Seriously, that's an interesting setup. Is that a threaded rod connecting the trailer to the yoke? I wonder how it performs in sudden stop situations.

That's a really cool idea! I wouldn't be concerned about weight if it was for utility purposes.

Damn, I would use that.

Wonder if you could bunny hop it aggressively enough to flip the trailer from the down position to the up position. If you could, you would be the Fonz.

here's a better daylight picture.

The center rod slides out farther and secures with a pinch bolt, we found this neccesary as when loaded the trailer would wiggle side to side when it was up close to the bike. Pulling it back farther stabilized it.
Currently the major downfall is the top side connection, the pivots at the stays are solid but it just rests against the seatpost and is strapped tight.
We are going to find a better way to clip it up when folded, other than that our first tests today were great. There is even enough clearance for fenders on those 1 1/4 tires, or put it on a 26" frame and it could clear 2 1/4" tires .
Ot weighs about 8 lbs, a lot for a rack but almost nothing for a trailer.
