Wipe the rear hub shell and you'll see a date code...eg 54 7 is July of 1954. A nice roadster to clean up.

thanks for that info mate. printed on the rear hub is 62 9 so it looks like it was built in september 1962.

Nice-- a Rodbrake roadster with a Dynohub. Any letters printed on the hub?

Triumphs were built in your hometown until WWII, but they were part of BSA after that, then absorbed by Raleigh sometime in the '50s.

Does your headbadge say Nottingham on it? If so, it's essentially a Raleigh. I have a '73; I rode it to work today.

hi it says on the hub sturmy archer, the numbers 62 9 and gb patent 593189. the head badge does say nottingham on it so it must be a raleigh. thanks for the info mate.

I thought it might be an AG hub. See http://www.sheldonbrown.com/sturmey-archer.html

Clean it up, oil the hub, and ride it.

i don't actually own this bike but i might buy it. how much do you think its worth in its present condition. its a complete bike but not the best condition. the rims and spokes are badly rusted.
