I'd love to get some thoughts on the resale value of this mid-nineties Merckx Faema replica. Mix of Record/Chorus, 9 speed, FIR Apollo/Chorus wheels. Ridden a fair amount, some paint chips on the stays and such. I would say condition is a 6 or 7 out of 10. My wife and I are expecting so we're clearing out the stable, and I have a coworker who would love to take this beauty off my hands.

Cheers,
Justin

Nice looking Merckx in Faema colours.
I think your bike is probably early to mid 80's rather than 90's because it has a flat crown fork, early style Merckx lettering, a straight rear brake bridge and a back brake cable run along the top tube.
Don't let it go too cheap, but on the other hand it deserves to be ridden.

Ah! I was confused by this. I also thought the frame was mid 80s, but the 9 speed integrated shifting threw me off. Must have been updated. I've seen these bikes go for around $1200 in great condition, so I was thinking $700-$900. Does that sound reasonable to y'all?

Joys of living near Belgium!

Hi all. Recently got hold of a Corsa Extra (in Max) - shown in Motorola Livery below - and a MX-Leader (in a unique color combo I've never seen before) - Pink on bottom, Midnight Blue up top. Got both, separately, from original owners. The MXL has the rider's name on top tube. So happy to find these in my size. The people who sold them to me were lovely and the MXL owner even hand wrote a receipt with his name on it. He gave me a great deal and I didn't bargain: only 200 Euro!

The Corsa Extra is all original with DA 7403 and the MXL came with Headset (Campag Mirage), BB (Chorus) and an aero seat post (which I think is Chorus but not that familiar with Campy stuff).

The MXL also has a strange 'F' decal on down tube, facing the back (second photo below). It is under clear coat. Does anyone know what this is? A Belgian team, perhaps?

Both were bought within 50 k's of eachother, close(ish) to Brussels.

Also, any suggestions as to what to build up the MXL with? I have an old DA 7400 crank, DA 7400 calipers (single pivot), SKF BB (should I use this instead of Chorus BB?) and a set of Exage brakes.
Don;t have alot of money after these two, but I would really appreciate suggestions.

Got some Shimano 600 tri-color pedals to go with the group and put on some new tape and hoods. Still think I need a longer chain, but it is riding so awesome!

I'm new here. I have a couple of Eddy Merckx bicycles, I'll post them here one by one.

First off, a very early 1980 produced one, fitted with a Campagnolo 50th Anniversary groupset. Frame has the signature pantograph on the seatstays, and "eddy" and "merckx" on he fork crown. De Rosa built?

Possibly a Ugo built frame, no way to tell for sure. I'd love to own that frame. You can keep the group

Hey, now you're teasing my upcoming posts
The Merckx is mine yes, the Cinelli not. No idea where you are looking to think that it would be mine.

(I can't PM you by the way, I don't have 50 posts yet)

That's why I gave you my email

I got the Cinelli from this, which I assumed were yours, not just your favorites: bonzoxedge - Pedal Room

Sorry if I assumed they were all yours.

Ha! I thought so.
Favorites are on the left, current (finished) bikes I own on the right :-)

I would have sworn that Laser was on the right a few minutes ago.

Nice bikes all around, no matter what.

Are you in the US or EU?

There's one on hilary stone - I came close to pulling the trigger, but it was a bit rough. It does look like one of the early period ones supervised by Ugo.

I don't think it's De Rosa built, just De Rosa over the shoulder.
