Tell me about it. The hassle messed up a lot of the summer for me. Anyway I'm sure I'll find a nice one in my price range eventually.
And I don't want to hijack this thread any further with my tale of woe. Just had to vent a little... and maybe warn others. Back to the pics!

... this has rendered me damn near speechless. Up until recently I didn't know enough about bikes to have a "dream" one. I think this thread has changed that.

I can't believe I missed this thread earlier. I've got two Eddy's, a Corsa 01 and an AX (ti). Both are size 57s with the same century geometry and similar components, Open Pro wheels and a mix of Ultegra/DA components.

norskagent, that color scheme is an abomination, and I can't believe you have defiled an otherwise beautiful Merckx like that!

Here are a few shots of my 92/93 MX Leader. I purchased it NOS from a distributor in South Africa, and built it up earlier this year. Despite some challenging weather such as extreme heat or torrential downpours, it's been rock solid on the Philly Gran Fondo 100 mile ride, LBC Covered Bridges Metric Century, and Philly LiveStrong Challenge rides this year. I dream of riding it in Belgium one of these years!

By the way, great thread!
One thing I always liked about Merckx bikes were the classy, tasteful paint jobs.

My newest find. An Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra with Columbus SLX tubes and C-Record Components.
It is almost new. From what the owner told me the person who originaly bought it made 20 kilometers with it.
Then he got sick after his first ride and the bike was stored until now in a heated garage.

For sale is a used 1980s Eddy Merckx "Professional" road bike - steel. I bought this bike used and absolutely love it, but do not ride it enough to justify owning it. $600, pretty firm. I put 52/53 because the previous owner was not sure. I am 5'10'' and it fits perfectly
The bike has:
Campagnolo wheels/hubs
Campagnolo front and rear derailleur
Campagnolo brakes
Shimano 105 shifters
Stronglight Cranks
Vittoria Pro-team tires
Call/text

Yes, I'd like to know as well.
I do have a Corsa Extra frameset I received from the ever lovely Mrs. Gomango for my birthday.
Mine is a 58cm, and is a gorgeous 7-11 Replica.
Will be a little spendy to build from scratch.
There is an incredible Corsa Extra available locally though, about 5 minutes away from our house, that may be less expensive in the long run.
Not that I need another bike mind you........
