Pic for gomango; Merckx collaborated quite a lot with swedish Crescent, especially in the late 80´s. On this bike, as in all other Crescen-Merckx cases the headbadge says Marckx. Crescent on tube.

Nice looking bike you've got there.
We had one for sale locally a year ago that sat and sat on CL.
The price was quite reasonable. I finally got up the gumption to buy her and she had sold that morning.
Sometimes it just takes the right person to see an ad!

A nice detail pic of the bike above and a swedish Crescent-Merckx ad from the 80´s. The swedish C-M bikes were always built by the former pro brothers Erik & Gösta Pettersson (incidentally the also built my Monark!).

I can't believe it, I logged on the Bike Forum to research the year of the Eddy Merckx MX Leader I just picked up today. I bought the Eddy Merckx MX Leader off of Chicago's CL page and was amazed to the condition, and without hesitation, I was going to offer $100 less than the asking price, but just handed the seller the asking price.
Most unusual combination of equipment:
Brakes-Shimano Dura Ace
Wheels- Shimano 600 with triple colors(Ultegra) with Mavic SUP Reflex rims
Seat Post-American Classic
Front Derailleur-Shimano Dura Ace
Rear Derailleur-Sach's Success indexed
Brifters- Sach's Campagnolo Carbon body 8speed shifters WoW
Crank-Campagnolo Chorus
Headset-Dura Ace
Handle Bar 3ttt
Stem Salsa steel
But, alas it's not my size:-(

One day I will find a Merckx MX Leader in my size and add it to my stable.

Hi Mike.
Was your nice Merckx the one that was on the Chicago CL and listed as a Michigan, UP entry on ebay?
Both of these new entries above are quite nice.

Yep, was on Ebay, cancelled with no bids by the previous owner of the Merckx MX Leader. Found it on https://bike.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/bike.cgi after getting back home.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi gomango,
Yes, sometime during the week. I going to part it out. Sell the frame/fork separately on Ebay, and the other components I'll keep some and sell some.
Cheers,
Mike

Finally got around to going SiS on the Merckx.
Before: Dura Ace 9 spd, Ultegra wheels.

After: Ultegra 9 spd, same wheels. And a touch of paint.

No mistake. Same frame. Fork is different and I do still have the original fork. The Faema finish had major problems. Believe me the drive side was the good side. And I did not like it as much as the Azzuro Cobalto of the same year. To each his own.

I think I remember asking you if you wanted to sell the flat fork crown fork once upon a time.
I am a huge Faema fan. I currently have three bikes in that livery. Yes, to each their own. Lovely repaint, regardless.

Paint by Southwest Frameworks in Dallas. It is actually not the correct color. More sapphire than cobalt blue. But it grew on me.
