Trying to identify my 80s Lotus road bike

Hey everyone. I picked up a Lotus about a 8 months ago in a trade with my Marin mountain bike I got as a teenager. To say that I'm pleased with the trade would be an understatement. I absolutely love this bike. I've wined and dined her, we really hit it off. We were messing around a bit, just having some fun. Now it's getting more serious. Now I'd like to know more about her past.

I'm not sure everything is original on this bike but this is what she was sporting when she became mine.

Sugino Super Maxy cranks, 170 arms 52/40 rings
Shimano 600 Arabesque shifters and derailleurs
Shimano 500 brakes
SR/Sakae stem and Road Champion drops
Made in Japan
Chrome fork ends
Vertical dropouts
Serial #: KK06501

Not really sure what to estimate her weight at and it's not polite to ask. She's a good deal lighter than my ex (1977 Hi Tens Fuji Sports 10)

I've attached some pictures. Sorry some of them are dark/blurry, BlackBerry a good camera is not. Hope you guys can help!

nice!

I have a "classique" from 1980. This looks like a similar year (according to componants) but different model - mine does not have as tight of a wheelbase)

maybe a "unique" ?

Yours looks like the much fancier version of my Lotus. Mine is called the "America" and is low end tange tubing and lacking the chrome.

Wheel size? Their higher end bikes tended to have 700c wheels. They also tended to have "Lotus" cast into the tops of the seat stays, along with chrome stays and cast chrome fork crown.

I would guess yours to be more of a mid grade Lotus. Still a good one for sure.

I have four Lotus bikes myself right now.

Wow! Thanks everyone! They're 27inchers. The lack of stamping on the seat stays and chromed chainstays is what's confusing me, as every example I've come across that could be a match include those features. I thought I remember finding a PDF online of a Lotus catalogue but I'm having trouble digging it back up.

She's going to be donating the Super Maxys to a Univega frame I'm converting. Anyone trying to get rid of a period correct crankset? I'd hate to not be able to ride her when I want to.

Opps, just noticed that link cobra provided IS the catalogue I was thinking of. Thanks again man!

Edit: I think I pegged her as an Excelle.

I have a Sugino Crankset (52-42) on Ebay right now that was pulled from a nice 85 Lotus Classique.
