Long Shen Arrowhead lugs, eh? Pretty stylish.

I considered building a frame with them, but the #405 variants w/o the Batman-style "wing" - still have the BB sitting around, just in case.

P.S.: You might want to see if you can find some different cable adjusters for the lower lug. With all due respect, I've seen that same hardware used as the brake caliper barrel adjusters Wal-Mart jobs, and I'm pretty sure they're galvanized (and rust prone).

I would consider different bar tape.

I like those bat wing lugs. So, Batfink, So George Barris, so Bill Mitchell and Chuck Jordan

That's a hot looking Bob Jackson! Congrats!
The wheels don't look that bad, though I agree the bar wrap must go. ;) Blue or white would be classic.
The pics don't show the details around the headset, stem...is it threadless, or threaded fork and adapter?

I already have the next set of bar tape for it. I'll just not look at my bars until the cork wears out. I really dislike it, but not enough to just destroy unused tape.

It's threaded - which surprised me. Hoping to hear back from Bob Jackson to learn what year this is. The shop had it sitting around for at least three years. The "in the wings" tape is solid black. Evidently the style I was looking for doesn't come in blue - which would have been my first choice.

Long Shen 300 series.

By the way, a correction - the set w/o the wings are #205, not #405:

Not that keen on the #205's seat lug in comparison to the 300's, but the headlugs are a masterpiece.

Eh, Zorro, you know everyone thinks you've been rear-ended by a cager on that thing. :p

I wouldn't joke about that happening to a Hetchens. I actually had a friend in college that it happened to.. Rear ended by a chicken truck no less !:twitchy:

USAZorro 04-24-10 10:35 PM

Like a cager could catch me. :innocent:

fwiw - I send an inquiry to Bob Jackson. They built it in 2000. So... it's got a head start on being C&V. :D

For a while, Hetchins was outsourcing to Bob Jackson. It's all in the family. :D

That is one hot bike. I think you did a good, good thing.

Looks great! I admire your ability to wear the existing tape out. The crimped seat tube is very cool.
