1972 Schwinn Paramount - Lugs Not Chrome?

Happened to see this 1972 Paramount P13 on Ebay...seller claims he's the orginal owner and ordered the frame sans the chromed lugs... I know I've read in the past you could custom order a Paramount frame size...I guess if you're dropping a lot of coin on a Paramount, Schwinn would accomidate their buyers....has anyone seen an example of these before?

It was a common conception then that chrome lugs added weight to a bike. Have you ever wondered why none of the professional track Paramounts of that time had chromed lugs? Well, that's why.

It is strange that someone would custom order to not have the lugs chromed, then leave the stays and fork chromed. Thats a nice looking bike, if I had the cash I would be tempted.

That's a really nice bike that is going to go high IMHO. Someone will really want it, and if there are two bidders like that out there, it could get interesting. Seven unique bidders so far, if I counted right.

Well, it didn't go much higher after all. Someone got themselves a nice Paramount, not cheap, but realistic price, versus the silly prices you sometimes see on ebay.

I've seen a few oddities like that before. It looks legit.

I can't understand wanting a Paramount without chrome lugs. Shoot, I'd chrome everything if I could.
