Celeste Bianchi ID? Complete "Quattro" Group

5 Attachment(s)
I recently picked up a bike from eBay.

It's a 49cm celeste Bianchi, but I would like to know its:
- Model name
- Year it was made
- If it was any good

It has a complete Quattro Group.
- Ofmega Quattro Cranks
- Suntour Quattro Brakes
- Suntour Accushift Shifters
- Suntour Quattro Rear Derailleur
- ITM Bars
- Original celeste saddle

Thank you!

She is a wee jenny, but what a catch!

I have a frame built out of the same columbus CROMOR tubing, and it is without a doubt my favorite bike to ride far and fast. You will enjoy this bike, I'm certain. Cromor tubing is not at the very top of the columbus hierarchy, but it is certainly higher-end.

Black anodized stem says '80's to me. WAG of 1987.

that is the model name, pretty much the same bike was sold in '89 and '90. for the price, about 620, it was a great entry level racer. also for a few years around that time it was Bianchis first "Italian" bike, although to meet a price in the low 600s, and have good index shifting they had to go with Suntour/Ofmega/Modolo rather than Campi. we sold a few of them and all but one customer loved them. the odd guy just beat it too much and did not take good care of it so he was always having trouble with it.

this one looks really nice for its age has it seen much use?

the decals are wrong for '87 (atleast here in the states anyway)

Review of the '88 CdI.
Always nice to read about the stuff you have when it was new.
Nice bike!

Thanks everyone! Great info!

I'm also wondering what the spacing is in the rear?

scoobydrew 04-07-10 11:11 AM

Anyone? I need to know the spacing so I can upgrade the wheelset.

Is it 126mm?

Bianchigirll 04-07-10 12:03 PM

that is likely right but the best thing is to measure. what kind of wheels are you thinking of? in friction you might be able to run a 9 or 10spd..
