Vintage? Scott mtb

This is a cross post from the mtb forum.

I've been a road cyclist for the past 26 yrs and have a couple of friends working on me to try out mountain biking. I've got a couple of cheap mountain bikes ( including a 1987 Trek 800) to ride with the kids but nothing serious. Another friend has loaned me a Scott Comp Racing bike that looks to be a 1993 or 94 model. However, I can't seem to find any information on the bike. It seems fairly light with nice Deore LX components, 7 spd uniglide cassette and a Rock Shox Indy XC fork. I need to put a new chain on it and handlebar grips. The bike has sat in storage for the past 12 yrs.

Does anyone know anything or have any experience with these bikes?

I think I will keep an eye on this thread. An old Scott mountain bicycle was donated to Bicycles for Humanity a short while ago. I was impressed with the light weight and components fitted.

Sorry - trying to resurrect this thread. This will be pic heavy.

It definitely appears to be a 1993 model which I would classify as closing in on vintage - others might not. It's just calling my name to take it out and ride and, since our friend hasn't come to pick it up yet, I'm obliged to answer the call.

Try as I might I can't seem to get the shifting to work properly on this bike. The front will shift only to the inner and middle ring but not to the large ring. The rear only shifts between 2-3 gears and that includes after a new cable. It makes me wonder if the shifter for the rear might be bad.

Serial # is MT93090406 on the bb. Opposite this is another number B-0222.

Components:
Shimano LX crankset, brakes, derailleurs and integrated 7 spd LX shifter/brake lever. Rock Shox Indy XC front fork. LK rear hub with 7 spd cassette and Parallax 100 front hub. Both hubs are laced to Mavic M400 rims.

Looking for advice on why I can't get this thing to shift.

I own this bike and replaced the stock shifters back than as a new bike with grip shifts. Had to replace front wheel.
Very nice and light cro-mo bike
