DO YOU KNOW WHAT THESE ARE? Please help newbie!!

Hi All

Today my fiance picked up his first racer, its a Carlton and we think late 70's. I assume resprayed at some point as now all black which is a shame as would of liked to of known original paint work, although is has been done well, can just make out stamp of frame as 'WG5 or S..00' also has what looks like A563? It looks untouched and from what we know its pretty much had one owner, has a brook seat?. Is there any obvious way of telling what model it could be and what age?

Also....

At the same place some other bikes where there, similar style but i'm guessing a bit later.....

Blue framed with white 'MISTRAL' and 'SPRINT' decals
Black framed with yellow 'SABA' decals
White frame with black 'FALCON' and 'KELLOGGS City Centre Winners 1983,1984,1985' decals

Are these known to anyone as i've never heard of them other than the falcon but have no idea on age etc and its really buggin me! My guess is they are pretty late production and not an exciting find!!

Hope someone can help!

Cheers

Emily

Dono decals but Carlton and Falcon are good bikes...

I can't say that I know all that much about most of the decals you mentioned, save the Falcon decal. Falcon is a worthwhile collector's road bicycle, in my opinion. So is Carlton, however, later models, like yours, are less sought after.

As for your late seventies Carlton. Your words are wonderful but pictures are worth a lot more. Good clear pictures of the complete bicycle, both sides and an assortment of close ups of frame details. That would really be a big help to those you have asked for help.

Here are a couple of late seventies Carltons I have been lucky enough to run across in days gone bye...

+1.

I'm guessing that you're in the UK? Falcon is very common there but not in the US. Ditto on Holdsworth. Falcons and Carltons can run the gamut for gaspipe to great (but are generally pretty cool). Holdworths are likely to be at least mid level bikes, if not higher.

Photos and prices would help in giving an opinion.
