Ernesto Colnago

Hi All,

Is this an outrageous price for a Colnago? I have wanted one for a while and saw this as a possibility...

That's the nicest looking Colnago I've seen! BUY IT if it fits!!

Chombi 04-12-10 01:12 PM

That's a very nice looking Colnago without too much the useless "trimmings" that made the late 80s'/90s Colnago look like rolling "peacocks" I'd grab that one quick if it was indeed in very good condition. BTW, what gruppo is mounted on the bike. The components should dicatate the final price on the bike.

I am still waiting to hear back from the owner to see the bike. When I hear back I will let you know about the group.

Thanks for the help all....

The downtube shifters look like some Ofmega ones I have... curious.

The components are NO thigh end which hurts the value but if they're all engraved as the seller says then it helps the value.

$950 is a little high for a NON-Campy Record Colnago. The wild card are the components.

What's a really good condition pantogrph Colnago Super Record big ring worth?

Who says the bike in question has one?

But to answer your question....A Colnago pantographed Super Record crankset is worth $150-350 depending on condition.

Aside from the popular color, that's a fairly ho-hum Colnago, IMO. The frame looks like a Super from the time that model was drifting toward the bottom of the Colnago food chain. Those "signature" components are usually found on mid-level models - I think they're likely Ofmega, as rat fink suggests. They do have some value in and of themselves (if I'm correct, which is a bit hard to tell from the photos), but not as much as would a panto Super Record or Nuovo Record group. To me, the bike is overpriced. I could see paying $600-700 for it, though I personally wouldn't pay that much. That model doesn't usually approach 1k unless pristine, though people do tend to overpay for the Saronni red ones.

Poster is asking about a panto chainring, not a crankset.

I missed on a 1982 Colnago Super two months ago at $500. I don't believe this price was an outlier.

The bike was in outstanding condition.

My son's 1982 Super is also in outstanding condition, with a decent Daytona gruppo after this weekend. Probably $600 total into the bike. A very nice rider, but no show winner that's for sure.

I bought a 2008 Master Extra Light "Saronni" frameset, so I understand the allure of the color entirely.

This bike could be purchased for less than $950.

Work with the seller, they sound like the type that would sell if the bike would be headed to a good home.

I know, was trying to make it not so clear to him.

There's nothing clear about Colnagos anyway.

People get too hung up exact dating anyway when it comes to old bikes. Colnagos simply push those buttons in special ways.
