Its really strange how much room bikes can take up in space.....
Even if you do things like offset the handlebars by hanging them in alternating orientation. I have them so close together that its sometimes hard to pull them out without getting them snagged on the bikes next to them. |
This pic is missing one basement bike, the Co Motion Java is just to the left out the door. The two road bikes by the TV will be set up for Zwift in a week or two, but are still ready to go for a ride if another mild day comes along .... and if the snow arrives, the Pugsleys are ready to roll! My autumn/winter project is to maximize bikes hanging, getting all Tetris with the hook positions.

I love seeing this thread active again. It's giving me some good ideas for organizing my bikes and other crap. Maybe a picture or two will happen at some point!
I miss Sixty Fiver, for sure. Hope he's doing well, whatever he's up to. |

They've been rearranged more than a few times. Need to get more up on the wall, or *gulp*, fewer bikes.

The Garage Cave …
In Dallas, due to sun, heat, and hail;
If you want to keep the paint on your car, has to be parked in the garage. Makes bike storage/selection tricky. I’m at the point where I have to sell a bike to get a bike-I’ve only got one space left, and if I’m not paying attention while maneuvering, I’ll put an eye out … :foo: JD, Dallas https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...78251dedd.jpeg My Cave … |
Started moving 'em out of the cave area now that the pulley hangers are going up in the atrium area. Eyeing that new blank wall space I'm starting to have window-and-bench dreams.

Got the rest moved and that wall area cleaned up, then brought over some rolling cabinets from the middle of the garage floor to serve as a bench for now. Windows later.
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...e37c6221a0.jpg Rather than remove the now-empty hooks I decided that wheel parking would help de-clutter the loft area above. Three sets down. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9cf26babab.jpg |
This thread inspired me to finally get my **** together and put up a board and some hooks. Sorry about the lighting, the light is where it is, and there are limited places to mount stuff on the walls in this basement. :p
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0513d51784.jpg It's so nice not to have bikes leaning everywhere, anymore. :) |
Everyone else's look so tidy, my C&V collection is crammed into a tiny spare room.

From left to right there's a Columbus SLX Bottecchia, a Columbus SL Denti, a Columbus Max Nikor, a Columbus SLX frame with a Columbus Max fork Simoncini, a Columbus SLX Tommassini with Air Fork, a Columbus SLX Merckx Team Panasonic, a Ti Merckx frame with a Columbus Max fork, a especially for Eddy Columbus MXL tubeset Domo Farm Frites MX Leader, and a Reynolds 753 Merckx. Pic also features a crash damaged Brian Rourke and two of my housemates recumbents, and a mess of wheels and other bits and bobs. |
some great caves here, looking to get something going of my own in the future. Thinking about diy bike hangers, gonna take a look at some coat hangers I have that seem pretty sturdy or maybe a couple of https://www.amazon.com/Bike-Mount-St.../dp/B09LK4BNKV wood and metal bracket things, I'd want some of them (the bikes) vertical
