Wow...Been Raining Bikes
Good Morning All...as you guys know, I "flip" bikes...by mainly parting out...it keeps me busy while not riding. Well, I do not know about you guys, but it seems to go in cycles (pun intended) about the buying and selling. Earlier this year, I was having almost zero success in buying bikes...but...the last 3-4 weeks have seen it RAIN bikes...
Since the first of June, I have bought 25 bikes...for a grand total of <$1500...making most of them easily profitable by parting out. There are actually several in there that may be keepers as well...I am not trying to "brag" or "discuss" the business...other than the cyclical nature...as I am curious...
Do you guys that flip and/or part out...find this type of cycle as well? BTW...yes, I know, no pics, didn't happen...so a couple of pictures of my FULL garage! :-)

Holy smokes, that's almost a bike per day! Any of those bought in lots or batches? I am not a bike flipper but I'm always interested in a good deal and snoop around the internet almost every day. I suspect I will do some flipping one day when I retire as one thing to keep the hands and mind engaged.
From the buyer perspective it seems to me lately that there are more decent deals around and it seems like complete bike prices on the high end stuff on eBay have inched down some recently. Not sure how that would affect your business, but I'm guessing you'd do OK if you're buying complete bikes, parting out and selling frames.
I'm going to show your pics to my wife, maybe not tell her you're reselling! I particularly like the lineup of frame hanging in the corner.

That pink and white Gazzele is really cool, is that a keeper?
When I was flipping bikes, yes, there were cycles and I think that it followed the seasons, at least here in Toronto. Winter was obviously dead for selling but great for buying.
I didn't do much buying of flips from Craigslist myself, I had a hookup with a scrap yard and often the biggest problem I faced was storage, there were just too many bikes and I had to leave a lot of bikes for the scrapper. The bikes that showed up at the scrapyard was also seasonal; it was nuts during March and April as people did spring cleaning.

Looks like a vintage bike repair shop to me.
I rarely find deals, too busy I think.
I did earlier this year find two recent machines for others on CL and an estate sale site.
In both cases the tire mold flash was not worn off.

I don't flip, but I've always admired your appreciation for those bikes.

Wow, that's quite a haul.
I used to flip to college students going back in the fall.
Usually had 10-15 ready for them by the middle of August.
They were completely sold out during welcome week.
I don't bother anymore.
Takes away from my busy fly fishing schedule........

Precipitation has been mildly increasing the past 5 years and is quite seasonal.

Sometimes get annoyed at seeing descent bikes on eBay that have had all the original bits replaced with crap. No problem flipping bikes or removing parts to sell the frame putting crap on is annoying.

Still learning
It hasn't been raining much here North of Canada, water or bikes. It's like the thunderstorms split and go around GP.
Just a few miles further north, up where @danbianchi9881 lives in Sterling Heights, apparently they are getting flooded by water and bikes.
However, bike purchase inquiries are on the rise!

On the other hand, there's people that replace "old" with "new" without regard to anything but "new." There's others that are just fine with a working part.

There is a Schwinn Super Sport in this haul that will be treated that way.
There is also a '78 Raleigh Super Course ($80...thought that was quite the deal) that is not quite original, but I will probably be giving it to my son...

I don't flip, I don't part, and I try not to collect either.
I do enjoy wrenching in the winter months, and a project bike or two can be helpful to keep me active in my retirement... when the winter weather limits my cycling somewhat.
I sold a bike in early spring... (which brought me down to "N"). But I felt like I had to practically give the bike away! Admittedly... although it was a Trek in excellent condition... it was a bonded aluminum, and not a popular color, plus it had downtube shifters (indexed).
But then I discovered another bike (and a new excuse) and was quickly back to N+1. I tried to convince myself I had both need and space for the bike.... but I failed at selling myself on keeping the bike. After very little time or effort with the bike.... I found it a new home. And a little profit for myself.
But I feel.... just my feelings... that bikes made of steel and with DT shifters just aren't as in demand as they once were. Of the 5 bicycles I've bought and sold in the past year.... I have made money. But not enough to speak of.
