Chainrings!
This one popped up on a club ride from a guy who bought it new and used to race it.

San Remo
Took the de rosa San Remo out today. Glorious weather. Unfortunately air started pouring out of the front tire and so only got 10 miles in. Before the ride I put air in the tire but had to pull real hard to remove the pump valve from the stem. I may have started a rip in the tube when I did that. I don't like that orange air pump from nashbar anymore. My picture would not go thru,

Haven't tried posting a picture before so hope it works... EL OS frame. A bit tatty - and missing some parts.

I got this Nuovo Classico back in 1992. It remains the best riding bike I have ever ridden. I jokingly refer to its handling as "telepathic" in that all I have to do is give a thought as to where I want it to go and it does it without any further input....

My Primato. The Primato is the DeRosa model I associate with the mid 90's in my mind. The OS tubing really does make the bike quite a bit stiffer. It's still not unforgiving...especially by today's standards, though...

I was reminded about this from another thread, thought I'd share here.
The cliff notes are some dude found three De Rosa track bikes out the back of a garage in Italy. Not sure of the exact year but it was <2011:

The cliff notes are some dude found three De Rosa track bikes out the back of a garage in Italy. Not sure of the exact year but it was <2011:
The bikes I found inside a gas station, are still in my hands, and the one ridden by Raniero Gradi, it's now my daily rig with some parts swapped. Like pedals, modified/drilled Concor, wheels and gear ratio (51-14 or 15, when found).
The other two, both 53ctc square, are wrapped and are now hanging inside my friend's garage.
I found the bikes on my way home during a stop at a gas station for some extra gas, as i was about to ride my pitbike the next day. While i was waiting in line to pay for gas, I noticed two pictures hanging on the back of the counter. One was Moser on a track bike, ready to start at some velodrome, and the other was Dancelli IIRC, with two other dudes.
As I was about to pay I went like "track bikes, cool! I just need one!" Dude goes “Well, I have them!”
I remained speechless for a second
"Are you selling them?"
He said “well, time has come, I was talking to my father about those bikes and we need them GONE!”
OK, I said, can I see them?
“Come back tomorrow, I’m kinda busy now!”
So I went back and he brought me to the garage right next to the station. I entered a big dark room and few rays of light were going through the windows from an outside light pole.
"I see no bikes!"
“Hold it man, lemme flip the switch!”
Light went on…BOOM!!!
I see bikes hanging right in front of me. I walked close and I could tell that some were Legnanos but i couldn’t tell what the others were…and I sorta was expecting some Benottos.
As i got right below the bikes I was trying to identify the bikes, squinting a bit then under the half inch of dust I saw De-R-o-sa …BDABING!
I turned over to the guy and said "hey man, those are de rosas…" Dude pulled a face on me like he was about to lose a sale!!!
“These are not good enough for you?”
“No, they are cool, me and my friends, we are just trying the track bikes, it’s like a new thing going on among the city kids …(lie)”
Ok, what's the price? “Uhm …you tell me.”
So i went, we grabbed the bikes, and placed them inside the car.
I pulled a roll of hundos from my pocket, and told the guy, “OK, I’ll keep flipping then I'll stop, if you don’t think its enough I'll keep going, till I think it's enough, OK?!”
So i started flipping and reached 600. Dude raised his eyebrow. I kept flipping…reached 900 and sorta raised mine. Dude pulled the “gimme gimme” hand gesture, so i kept flipping…slowly…1000…1100…1200. That's it man, more than fair! Dude looked at me, grabbed another 50 Euros piece from the roll…“for the coffee!” he said. I stared at him for a second … OK …walked past by him …grabbed don’t remember how many complete track wheels and Vittoria tubular covers! “These you have no use for, I bet!” Winking at him!
Jumped in the car that smelled like an old backroom and drove home. And from there the legend started…

I now can contribute to this thread. With the same frameset submitted by others. This is my favorite bike and although all the components are much newer, it is a pleasure to rid. I get it about De Rosa!
Gorgeous set of pics here so just wanted to add this one, again and to bring this thread back to visibility!

Bought the 1989? SLX off Craigslist as shown a few years ago. The Alumino frame in the back was purchased off EBay years ago but I still haven’t built it up.
I put Campy Syncro 8 speed downtube shifters on. I have bought a Record C headset (bike has Dura Ace headset) and Record C pedals to put on the bike in the future.
I’m always looking online for deals on a 58cm De Rosa frame or bike. The two I own are 60cm’s which I can straddle but most of my bikes are 58’s. I would love to own a red one, maybe with Delta brakes!

Hey, time to post my early 80s Pro, which needs new bar tape (I can not keep white bar tape clean) and to install replacement repro brake hoods I just purchased.
Hard to tell when, but likely between 81-83 or so, given the sloping fork, and remains of the Columbus sticker (dark blue, old-style Columbus font, no "SL")

Several years ago there was a chart floating around the internet that was useful for dating DeRosa frames. It had pictures of various frame details and graphics with the dates that they were used.
Can any of you help me find that chart?
Thanks,
Brent
