Can anyone identify this bike?
Hello all,
Just registered with Bike Forums in the hope that someone might recognize this bike.
I got it recently from a guy who told me it was a messenger bike used in the 1940s [Irl].
I suspect it may be an Armstrong, made in Birmingham, around that time and used by British postal service. The Irish GThere are lugs to take a front rack or basket holder. The cross bar is, I presume bent by accident although it lacks any stress marks and does not seem to have thrown the rest of the frame geometry out. Could it be deliberate?

Not seeing a picture. Did you try posting one? I wouldn't be able to help anyway, but I do like looking at pretty pics.

Hello again,
Thanks for the replies and sorry for the confusion.
I was not aware that I had actually posted - hence the lack of a photo and the typo.
Now, if I can figure out how to load a picture, I will get back as soon as possible.
I have since found out that the bike in question is probably from circa 1939. It looks very like a CSW [Co-Op] messenger bike. See here:
https://tradesmansbike.wordpress.com/...elivery-cycle/
My machine, I am told, served as a dispatch bike for the Irish Gov. Department of Agriculture and would have been ridden around Dublin before and during WWW II
Since I am close to that vintage it has particular interest for me.
Hopefully this link will allow you to see the bike

Cheers and welcome to Bike Forums!
Fixed the photo link (you were linking to the entire photo album, not the individual photo), and the next thing I do, I move this to Classic & Vintage Forum (from Introductions). Any questions, please PM me.
