Anybody Have Some Closeup Pix of a Giant Iguana?

I've recently acquired an early 80's Schwinn Sierra, and recently I was struck by a similarity I noticed in a pic of an older Giant Iguana. I know Giant was making bikes for Schwinn, and when Schwinn screwed 'em they started importing their own bikes to the U.S., so it's possible it's the same bike with a Giant name on it. Just curious.

Oh yeah - the Sierra in question is a Cro-Mo framed early 80's model, without researching the serial number, I think it's an '84.

That one's a newer aluminum framed one. Thanks, though.

I have that bike complete...well it will be when I put it back together

Here is the only picture I have of mine at the moment. Mine is probably a 1989 or 1990 model year, it has Suntour XCM equipment on it.

When I first read it, I was thinking about the giant lizard from the old arcade Rampage game, but then I realized that many of you wouldn't recognize it.

perhaps not as old as you're looking for:

It looks slightly different now; seat bag is gone, Schwalbe Marathons and Two Fish blocks are on for the el cheapo led maglights.

The more I look at it, the more I think the Iguana and Schwinn Sierra share a common frame. The forks, handlebars and components are all different, of course.

You are correct. For some reason, I was thinking that the name was Iggy until I looked it up.

That Yellow Iguana is amazing! I absolutely love it, hehe. It's practically begging for some black/polished Deore XT, or DX.. Not laughing at all!

The Schwinn High Sierra was fillet brazed at the head tube, not sure about the Sierra's?,,,,BD

As far as I know, Giant always stamped their frames with the letter "G" and with the four number date code on one of the dropouts. I don't recall the Sierra's having that code stamp.
Just sayin'
