Treasure Trove

So I did it...I just spent $1,000 on a rather large box of NOS campy parts, almost all of them in the box (with a smattering of other things). I'm extremely spooked and nervous because at least some (read almost all) of this stuff will probably be sold and I don't have a $1,000 to lose.

Highlights...

NOS 6 speed campy free wheel that I THINK is aluminum, it might be titanium. Definitely NOT steel

2 sets of NOS Delta brakes
3 sets of NOS SR levers
2 sets NOS SR calipers
2 C record bottom brackets
4 NOS Cinelli stems
OR Record campagnolo cantilevers
8 speed NOS titanium campy ergos

TONS of other stuff...I haven't even had the chance to look through most of it.

Pictures later today and tomorrow.

Nice score!! You've picked up some very nice parts!!!

Bianchigirll 05-03-10 07:13 PM

sounds like a dream come true. cantilevers?

coldfeet 05-03-10 07:33 PM

Ummm... any 9 speed ergo brifters in there?

RoboIsGod 05-03-10 07:41 PM

Mmmmm treasure trove.

Force 05-03-10 07:43 PM

WOW! Aaron - where did you find this stuff!?!

KonAaron Snake 05-03-10 07:48 PM

Cantis...yep...for a very brief period, campy made some MTB stuff.

I went through the box and I was a bit optimistic in my description. Some is NOS, but a lot is just excellent condition and well packed. They also were off on some counts. I do have something like 4 NOS winner pro free wheels, a 600, a mavic 8 sp cassette, three or four reginas.

On the plus side, I have two of those campy 6 speed free wheels, and they're either aluminum or ti. Also an 8 sp ti cassette.

Zorro...I wasn't trying to sell them, but will gladly move the thread if you'd prefer. I'm trying to learn more about the parts...I think they'll more likely end up on ebay/clist anyway.

OH I know very well Campi made OR stuff. I lusted after a Euclid grope for years. I was lucky enough to have a Olympus bike for a short time. I just always get beat out by snipers when I bid on the stuff one ebay.

yes those brakes, in the box look like the original Athena brakes calipers and levers. the shifters are Syncro II

the calipers with the hollow nut cap are either Victory or Triomphe

the Deltas are Record I think the last model with the bellows on the top instead of a QR device

I've no objection to you finding out what some of the things are. I'm just trying to throw a blanket on the almost inevitable excitement that accompanies momentous finds, and seems to often lead (by degrees) to offers to purchase and discussions of price where they shouldn't be.

Lots of cool stuff there. Does your camera have a macro setting? If so, I think the close-ups will be considerably clearer.

Unfortunately all I have is my cell phone's camera.

Anyway, there are some other odds and ends in there...and multiples of some stuff...but that's pretty much it. I got it from a shop that was selling it for a former collector.

Bianchigirll 05-03-10 08:05 PM

I think this is Chorus does it have an allen bolt on each end and "A" / "B" markings?

there is no operating shaft so it is not Croce d' Anue

A search of Velobase seems to indicate that the campagnolo free wheels are aluminum.

Bianchigirll 05-03-10 09:08 PM

hey Aron, FYI I think those Delta brakes have the wrong mounting bolt/nut on them.

BG...how can I check and/or fix that? I don't think these were ever ridden, so not sure how that would happen.

EjustE 05-03-10 09:14 PM

Great find!

Those ergos are not 8 sp... they are later (and they are Record, as they say :) ). Probably 9sp, could be 10, but I am not up to date. For sure they are not 8, though. Lucky you :)

RobE30 05-03-10 09:24 PM

Cool stuff! Are you making the trek to Trexlertown this Saturday? I plan on riding over so I don't bring home anything big....
