Need info on Serrota

I purchased a Sorreta 86' Nova special (lugged Columbus butted steel) w/ 105 group, velocity wheels, 105 hubs.
price at $800 I jumped on it, seemed like a good deal.
Kinda know what everything but the frame is worth, just trying to figure that out.
If you can help me complete my conquest of finding a tag price or any further information on this vintage steel frame please help.
by the way, it rides like butta.

Hello welcome to the forums. sounds like a nice bike. this posting should be in the apprasail forums. as a hole the bike is worth about $800. so if you know how much the components are worth subtract that amount frome $800. did you buy this bike to ride and enjoy it or just to try and get rich reselling it?

Serotta?

One of our moderators, Jon (cuda2k) has a 1986 Serotta Nova and could probably give you an appraisal. HERE are some photos of Jon's bike after it was repainted.

I have an 89 Serotta Nova Special, columbus tubing like yours. I paid $250 for the frame back in 2000, but I wouldn't
put too much stock in that. Good steel frames have jumped in price in the last few years, and Serotta is a desirable marque.
For a good estimate check ebay for current and completed auctions and also check out the classified
section of the Serotta Forums https://forums.serotta.com/index.php?

I have a Serotta Colorado II on the way to me and I don't know much about the frame---where did the Colorado II fall into the Serotta lineup?

If I recall correctly Colorado (late 80's) --> Colorado II (early 90's) --> Colorado CRL --> CSi This lineage was the top of the line steel bike series. Each is an update of the previous. The later Colorado III used the same 'colorado concept tubing' but was
Tig welded. The Colorado Concept tubing is Serotta's proprietary design which tapers from wide at the BB to narrower at the top (seatlug or headtube lugs).
I think when the Colorado II was available so was the NHT and Nova Specials which used Columbus tubing and were the
lower level bikes.

Thanks, that is very interesting. The Colorado II that I am receiving is lugged but I believe the BB is tig'd which I suppose would strengthen it? Regardless, I am very excited and can't wait to build it up, I have never seen a Serotta here in Toronto...

I believe that the Seat tube and Down tube are fillet brazed at the BB shell.
