Raleigh Pro fixie done

8 Attachment(s)
My neighbor down the street had this old bike that he'd had in his garage for years. It was called a Raleigh Proffesional. The paint was pretty rough so I stripped it and cut off the thingie that holds the rear shifter on then I ground down the thingie that holds the wire that went to the rear shifter. I painted it black and found some replacement decals on ebay. Since it was an old bike I just wanted to show everybody on this board how nice it came out. Anybody want the old brakes wheels shifters pedals and stuff if not I'll just throw them out.

You mean "how nicely it came out" . There are guys in this forum who would object to improper grammar.

Nice job with the grinder. Did you use a hammer and a drill as well? Those are my bike specific tools of choice. Why didn't you chop the handlebars and dump the brakes?

Need to put a little more bait on that hook... LOL

What's the gearing?

Thought I'd ask before all hades breaks loose.

Prepare to catch a lot of heat for grinding off those "thingies". IMO, you've earned what I anticipate is coming.

Hmmm... were you kidding about throwing the Campy stuff out? If so send them my way! I can't tell if you are serious or not with this post?

DiegoFrogs 05-06-10 06:21 AM

I don't think it's the same bike. Look at the double eyelets on the fork. The rear wouldn't have had any eyelets either, would it?

jtgotsjets 05-06-10 06:22 AM

dude sick tarck bike.

mickey85 05-06-10 06:25 AM

Knowing that it's probably complete and utter BS (as I'm 98% positive the black bike isn't a true Professional - angles are too slack), if you're serious about the original components, I need the wheels, stem and seatpost.

My guess is that he's been inspired by the fake bike thread ;)

I've been outed. It's a Raleigh Technium dressed up like a professional. Diego, Nice catch on the eyelets from my intentionally crappy pictures. Gomango it's a 44/17 lots of hills around here. probably made you guys blow coffee out your nose a bit this morning eh?

Ex Pres 05-06-10 07:19 AM

That's not a real fixie. You have both front and rear brakes.

+1

And dood, throw out those old parts before someone gets hurt!

Edit: oops, cat's out of the bag already, you should have let us twist on the line for a while ;)

norskagent 05-06-10 07:23 AM

add some pink deep-vees, a rasta chain, and purple crankset, and your done!

svt4cam 05-06-10 07:25 AM

I had it in original livery with only a front brake and on some of the longer downhills I found that my legs don't do over 140 RPM to well anymore.

I hope some of the more militant C&V members called off the hit in time.

cudak888 05-06-10 07:34 AM

Amusing troll, I must admit, but your surrogate Raleigh Technium isn't convincing enough to pass for a drewed Pro.

EDIT: Darn, OP let the cat out of the bag earlier. Didn't even see his post.

P.S.: Why not use the "Guaranteed Made With AWESOME 531" decals? They'd fit this bike a bit better, IMO.

I was wondering about there not being fastback stays. This explains it.

Since I just decaled it last night I'll be interested the reaction it gets when it see's the light of day. I think it will be convincing enough to pass a 5 foot casual inspection of a non expert. Had I known about the awesome decal I would have been all over it lol. Kudos to Cyclomondo in Austrailia the decals I purchased were top notch. Also kudos to Rustoleum, their rattlecan black laquer polished out pretty darn nice.

Well, the Raleigh Pro that he showed also doesn't have fastback stays. They did away with those in...75? 76? Something like that.
