Suntour GPX freewheel?
Hello,
I'm in need of a freewheel for an '89 suntour GPX group and am having a hard time trying to figure out what I need to buy.
Cant seem to find any info on which of their freewheels came with this group.
And most importantly where I can get one....
7 speed, and would love if the index could functioned nice

Look on ebay for a Suntour freewheel. Any 6 speed normal, 6 or 7 speed Ultra would work. I believe GPX can't handle more than a 24 or 26 large cog. IRD makes a very nice 7 speed freewheel, 13-24, that would work perfectly. They go for 50$ through the website, but your LBS might be able to get it for less.

Hello lucysky, welcome to the forums. most any Suntour 7spd freewheel will work, just be sure it has 4 nothches for the freewheel removal tool, like this one. ebay may be your best source but these freewheels are getting pricy. ask around at your local bikeshops.
also as robertkat says a 28t is about as large as you want to go.

Hi I did a bit more looking on ebay. this should work real good for you unless you really want a 12t or need a lower gear than a 24t

Isn't the Sachs Aries(sp)? 7 speed freewheels supposed to index with multi systems. I have two 13-23 or 24's with ultra low miles you could would trade for.

the sachs may or may not work, suntour spacing is slightly different and the space is uneven on anyway

I doubt you will find an actuall Suntur chain these days. atleast not at a price you want to pay. most any 7/8 spd chain should work. we used alot of Sedissport (SACHS) chains on Suntour bikes back in the late '80s early '90s. but I think they are SRAM now
