Thinking about building a fixie.

Was thinking about turning this into a fixie. :p I won't be cutting off anything just yet. Am I insane?
The rear wheel on this tacoed and the hub was used on another bike, I was figuring on turning those bars upside down (they're aluminum!) and building a flip flop hub setup for the rear wheel. Also putting on an old french leather saddle in my parts pile. OK, what do you think? :innocent:

Rip the brakes off and do it as a Single Speed w/ a Coaster Brake :D

Go for it. Why not?

I think it'd make a beautiful fixie. Don't forget foot retention!

I'd say go for it. A fixed gear bicycle can help improve your spinning abilities and cadence, plus it's fun!

And I'm sure others will reiterate this, but don't kill any kittens.

That's a nice frame, but it's not like it's all original. It's worth trying. Enjoy it.

It has horizontal dropouts, right?

I built a fixed gear just so I could try it. I didn't like it, and now the bike has gears again. No harm done.

Do it up.; If you don't like it you can always change it back to a geared bike or sell it on CL

This is an important point. Hard to tell from the pic, but it doesn't look like the frame has long horizontal drops. If not, you'd probably need to run a chain tensioner.
