Rims wanted

Hi guys I'm rebuilding an old bike and the rims are a little suspect - one has a flat spot and they are old Weinmann's 700c which don't have a lip to grip the bead (a bit concerning).

So I'm looking to get my hands on a decent set of old rims (I have the hubs) - can anybody point me in the right direction?

The Classic and Vintages Sales section would be a good start. Otherwise there are auction sites on the web as well as craigslist where you might find some secondhand vintage rims. Otherwise your LBS could be a good source, ask them. Another way to get cheap rims is to buy a donor bike with 700c rims and use those.

Edit: Didn't see you are in Oz. Shipping could be a lot for rims, so I guess you might need to go local.
If there are any bike co-ops in Sydney they will probably have a few decent old rims kicking around if you ask.

Thanks Lugger, I have been searching for a while and will keep on searching - I will also ask my LBS for some help.

I have been tucking rims away for a while now. there are a few different styles available -alloy, alloy without eyelets, alloy with eyelets, alloy concave, alloy concave with eyelets, 700c or 27". Lots to consider and how many spoke holes - 36 or 32?

You probably have a hard time beating Niagara Cycle Weimann for price. Occasionally you will see something cheaper, but not too often.

Shipping to Australia is a value-killer. I'd research what's available through your local shop, and check for local online deals.

Oops, missed that part. Maybe someplace in HK, or Taiwan. See them on US Ebay once in a while.

If ya gotta couple of alloy 27" 36 hole kicking around, you would be willing to let go cheap, send me a PM!!!! Steel is real when it comes to frames, but that doesn't apply to rims.... :D
