Legit?

A new Brooks B17 Special with copper rivets and rails. Under $100 shipped seems too cheap. Do you guys think its legit? The photo looks generic and not correct, but the description is of this saddle:

I think it would look nice with some VO elk hide wrap on this new acquisition:

I'm picking out parts as I restore it. A few more parts to strip and it will be in the OA bath. Also, who has ridden a Turbo and a B17? I'm comfortable on my Turbo, but I'm a little nervous about spending $100 on the Brooks and not being comfortable.

Cant comment on that but you can get a b17 special for $73 shipped after coupon at wiggle.co.uk. You get the coupon by signing up for their newsletter. They're cheaper in the UK because that's where they are made. Wiggle is a pretty big and legit website.

Wow, thanks for the tip man.

Slane is a legitimate site, for sure.

St Johns Street Cycles also has good prices. Wallbike was very quick to raise their prices when the Dollar fell, but they aren't so quick to drop them now that the Pound is at a historic low.

i rode the Turbo for years in the 80s, and since coming back to cycling have logged a good number of miles on a B-17 and Professional w/copper. i find the professional to be slightly more comfortable than the B-17, but either one is just about the best saddle i've ever been on. firm but forgiving, support across the sit-span, not just in one place. you never get the feeling of sitting on a post or rail, just firm support.

Thanks guys. Now that I'm finding these B17's at more affordable prices, the Challenger bag is tempting me. It never ends!

EDIT: The Challenger looks too small. Anyone know if these are typically out of stock?

Not to gloat or anything, but I just scored a NOS 1977 B17 on ebay for $72. Shipped! From Belgium!! Starting bid was $72, and nobody else bothered to bid on it. Go figger.

Congratulations, I meant to bid on that one! I'm sure a 1977 B17 is better than a 2010.

I think that would look great on your Bianchi. I can't vouch for that seat but the Imperial (which I understand is a cutout B17Narrow) is very nice.

it is likely Slane bought a huge run of those seats, to sell cheap, to draw people to their site in hopes you would but more than just the seat.

from working in shops I still find myself in the habit of trying to meet a $50 ro $100 "minimum order" mark when shopping online.

Which is a large part of why I bought it. I've now got two bargain vintage B17's, both from the 'bay: the above-mentioned '77 and one of unknown age that I got (used but in great shape) for $50 a couple years ago. Those should be enuf to get me thru the next couple decades.
