Yet Again - Bianchi Celeste Paint Code
 

I know this has been discussed over and over, but I have to check. Has anyone been able to find a paint code for Bianchi celeste paint? Search after search led me only to find the hex code of 66FFDD, and a Sikkens code of 455A1. Unfortunately no one in this area has Sikkens or can cross reference. I think finding a PPG code would be the most beneficial for everyone that will ever search this subject. Also, Bianchi no longer sells the touchup as most of you know.

Thanks for the response. The Bianchi I'm considering painting Celeste was originally white. I actually took the frame in to have the white paint matched(very creamy, so a stock color wasn't cutting it) and the paint shop said they needed a flast 2x3 inch area for a match. So as it turns out, it wouldn't have mattered if the frame were celeste or not with this particular shop. Once I found they couldn't match my white, I decided to further pursue celeste. So many discussions but only one paint code and it was Sikkens. This stuff is elusive!

It's a lot easier to match a colour when you don't have it, because if your a little off, it doesn't actually make much difference. Celeste is a pastel turquoise, in the 1950's and 1960's pastel car colours were quite popular, for example in 1957 Chevy had a colour they called Larkspur Blue that would be pretty close, maybe a little too blue though. If you want something more Italian then in 1965 Alfa Romeo had a colour called azzurro ****lo that would also be fairly close, some of the paint panels are tough to read though. Go here then knock yourself out.

Hey, thanks! I just didn't know where to start when it came to auto colors. I restore 60's muscle cars, but no I couldn't think of any models to save my life. What do you guys think of the '57 Chevy surf green? If I find a good match, I'll get the PPG code and post it here for future reference. Thanks guys.

I think the Chevy is a bit too green and needs a touch of blue in it.
Contact Brian Baylis, he paints out in California and is on the CR list.
he can probably give you a good approximation of celeste.
I was going to paint my Trek Larkspur Blue, then sort of drifted to Indian Turquoise
and finally ended up with the Blue I chose ( forget the name, but it's a standard PPG color).

It seems as though the older Bianchis had more green, but the newer bikes are more blue? I'm going for a vintage look with a honey B17 and elk hide wrap on the bars. I'm tempted to go a bit more green than blue so it doesn't look too harsh. Hmmm... decisions decisions...

The Old Celeste Chestnut, AGAIN.
 

Hi to you all out there I have just joined the "Happy" band of Bianchi Celeste Touch up paint hunters since my recent acquisition of a 4yr old Via Nirone 7 Alu Carbon in Celeste/White. I have just received a Marker Pen format touch-up pen from M Steel Cyles,Newcastle and dealt with the man himself :- Joe Waugh. He is a very nice guy and really went out of his way to get me my order for the paint pen. It was all of £9.99 +£3.00 postage. It weighs all of 22gms,not much paint - I guess.
There was a "Used" Celeste touch-up paint pen the other day on E'bay that sold for £16.00 + £3.00 postage !!!!!!!!!********** Some Mothers and all of that.
The paint is a very very good match to my bike but an absolute pig to apply.
The notion of putting paint into a Marker Pen type touch-up is beyond me,bloody clever-arse know-alls.
I am in the process of bleeding some off into a tiny cap and applying it with a very fine Sable model makers brush. I will keep you posted in a few days time of the results. The need for touching up is Cable Damage on the head-tube (it never had Helicopter Tape applied).
I am intending ringing Gerry at C&G Finishers in my old home town of Liverpool and asking can he help me out from his pallet of refinishing paints. Again I will keep you posted.

From what I've seen, I'd say its the other way around...

Funny, no one ever debates the accuracy of the color of a red Bianchi.

Possibly because many older gentlemen are slightly blue/green color blind.

Hi again to you all. Further to my post #9. I will retract the observation about the colour match of the STUPID Shaker Stick/Magic Marker touch up pen. It is CRAP. The cap colour is "Bob-On" but then when applied it is very blue when it dries and as a consequence of the utter disappointment I am going to find a piece of gloss paper with the Celeste colour on it and do a cut & paste under some clear helicopter tape.
I could not get the bullet shaped felt tip to apply the paint evenly and in a sufficient amount for proper coverage and resorted to dispensing all 10ml into a very small (20ml) screw-top bottle and applying it with my fine model makers brush.
I will not be getting another marker pen touch up like this ever again.
C&G Finishers,Liverpool said that they could supply me with a small amount for touch-up but would need the bike for a comparison.

Hi gerv. I was of the understanding that Red Bianchi frames were looked upon like Yellow,Blue or any other colour than Ferrari RED on a Ferrari.
My other Bianchi whilst not Celeste is a deep blue with a contrasting light blue and still ouses Bianchi.

Aww...Celeste is so....blasé. Paint it orange.;)

If it were mine I'd paint it the color of that Alfa.
