Bent Frame

Does this frame look bent or is it just me?

Totally. The duct tape doesn't hide a thing.

due ruote 06-14-10 12:44 PM

Looks fatally wounded.

randyjawa 06-14-10 12:46 PM

The frame set looks bent to me. Pass on this one unless you know what you are doing when it comes to repairing vintage frame set.

I wasn't in the market for one . I'm just amazed that someone would try to sell a bike with a bent frame and not disclose it in the auction.

A classic ... a classic frontal crash specimen. It is also from about the mid-1980s, not the '70s. The frame and forks are worth about a $1 as scrap metal.

That thing is so bent I'm worried about the tree!

Maddox 06-14-10 01:24 PM

Yeah, that top tube used to be pretty much parallel with the ground...

20grit 06-14-10 01:29 PM

looks like the bike from the sour patch kids commercial.

You think?

Actually it looks like ther is a nice ding on the bent fork (left side, a little lower than the rim level) as well:

It's been upgraded to more modern geometry with the sloping top tube and low trail fork that buyers are clamouring for these days.

"Q: The frame on this bike is obviously badly bent. You should be noting that damage, the frame is toast.
A: I did not noticed or I would have posted but I will post it to my site right now. Where is it you are talking about???"

Where? where? could it possibly be bent? surely not where the paint flaked off everywhere, or that spot where the frame suddenly slopes at a odd angle...nooo bent what? Are you sure? The frame is like that so the front wheel clears the frame. Right?

bikerosity57 06-14-10 08:17 PM

I didn't know it was bent. That's why I covered the bent areas in tape! Should be tossed off eBay! Criminals!

Based on the reaction of the seller and the changing of the post, including full disclosure and asking bidders to remove their bids, if they would like, I think that he was looking for a quick flip but was taken... and the only time he removed the tape was after he was told that there is something wrong with the bike and to his credit, he photographed and posted a picture of the mess... IMHO, just a noob flipper who thought he would make a quick buck...

I hate to spoil a good joke, but they actually made it a high trail bike

Hey, if it was a local pick up, I'd give him a $20 bill for that bike if the rims are alloy. If you can get it cheap, that's a decent donor bike to improve/build up another entry level frame that came with chrome wheels and a heavy steel crank.

Seller has now added the damage in the bike's description. Whether he was trying to pull one over on someone,,, only HE knows. Since it has been corected,, I'll give him the benefit of not eally knowing the damage. Many sellers on E Bay, bikes or whatever, do not really know what they are selling.
