flaking chrome on frame

I've got flaking chrome on the inside of my old Voyageur's stays; any recommendations as to how to approach this? I first need to clean a little around the chrome flake (it looks like it rusted a slight bit) but I'm not sure what to do afterwards.

Should I just tape up the area around the flaking chrome and paint over that? Remove the chrome completely? Or is there any shop that can actually reapply chrome to a specific area?

Thanks :)

Oxalic to remove rust, then apply a healthy amount of car wax to protect it.

sounds good, will try that out. the car wax is enough to keep more chrome from flaking off too?

No, it just will protect it some. Can't imagine finding anyone to spot chrome stays.

Be careful with flaking chrome. it can be razor sharp.
