another bike weight thread
or maybe the first? Last night I was bored so I inventoried all my bikes weights.
Oldest is a '76 fuji track w/ suntour superbe pro, shimano dura ace, and nitto parts. The clamp-on front brake and bell add a few extra ounces I'm sure. 20 lbs. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/jvpro/bike-1.jpg 1979 raleigh track, w/ campy parts, brooks pro saddle (not as in pic) 19 lbs. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...eigh_beach.jpg 1981? bianchi track, w/ campy, gipiemme, new mavic elipse track wheels, brooks Ti swallow (not as in pic), 20.8 lbs. Must be made of aelle tubing? I don't know. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/jvpro/006-1.jpg 1980 Mclean w/ campy parts, brooks swift, honjo fenders, nitto rack, 25 lbs. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/jvpro/002-1.jpg 1989 waterford paramount w/ 8 spd. dura ace, '07 mavic wheels, 20 lbs. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/jvpro/001-1.jpg and lastly, not c & v, but I weighed it anyway, an '07 raleigh xxix'r (29r), rigid singlespeed mtn. bike, 26lbs. http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs065...._1268437632904 |
Norskagent, you know I lust after your Fuji but I love that photograph of the Raleigh. That is stunning.

Thanks - that pic was one of those that just happened. I was riding on the beach road (NC 12) at kitty hawk (outer banks, nc), and noticed the cool color of that beach rental cottage. It was empty, so I propped the bike up, snapped the pic, and rode off. I wish the frame was a tad larger, if I were racing in a velodrome it would be fine, but for street cruising my position on it is too low and aggressive for longer rides. And I'm not putting risers on it!

I admit, I've always been a weenie...:D
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44...R/DSC02003.jpg 1984 Peugeot PSV - 19.24 pounds http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44...R/DSC00159.jpg 1985 Vitus Plus Carbone 7 - 17.25 pounds Speaking of weights, I just aquired my personal French Holy Grail of weight weenie components. A set of CLB Compact Professional brake calipers, courtesy of Mike Fraysee. Dang!, each cliper weighs even less than my what I thought, to be so weenie Mavic 851 RD! No idea what bike I'll put it on eventually, but it's the end of a long quest to find and get these calipers since they first caught my attention back in the early 80's! I could put them on my Vitrus Carbone 7 and further drive it's present weight down even more........Hmmmm... Chombi |
