It looks like a really shady auction, perhaps shill bidding? Or maybe its the floral pattern on the picture background?

Bogus, like you say. Winner is a new member with zero feedback. What are those things worth? $40?

But there's still hope on eBay for the occasional deal: Last week I picked up a mint Chorus 10 sp group for the Look La Vie Claire you sold me. It was listed at a BIN of $250, had been up for 15 minutes when I saw it. One pic from far away, seller 85% positive feedback, big red flag!!

Thought about it for a few minutes. I knew I only had time for the most rudimentary research. It turned out that the seller had only a handful of feedbacks in the last 12 months, and one was negative. It sounded like a petty misunderstanding. I hit the BIN button.

The goods arrived expertly packed in 2 days, and in much better shape than the short description let one believe. All along there was great communication.

More like $100-150, depending on condition, if the auction is presented nicely with nice photos.

Here is my theory: the second bidder bid $400 (either by mistake or to assure getting the item), then had a change of heart. Instead of retracting the bid, created a new ID and bid too much on the item. Note that both bids were placed same time of the day, 3 days apart.

I think that is pretty plausible. Either way there is no way $450 was a real bid. There's a set of 3x7 RSX brifters on my local CL for $125. I think I could probably get them down a bit in price (don't need them so I won't) and there is obviously no shipping. $450 has to be a mistake or an anomaly

I'm just wondering if the top bid is the shill, and then the seller gives the #2 bidder a second chance offer? Will be interesting to see how this goes down.

These seven speed brifters are pretty desirable, something in the $100 to $125 range is not uncommon. For someone updating an older seven speed Shimano drivetrain, there aren't that many choices out there.

I think bids #1 and #2 were shill bidders.

In reality 600 Ultegra 8s STI's are worth $125+/- and Dura Ace 8s STI's are worth $160.
