Picked this up last night, though not gonna be keeping it after measuring it, anyone wanna take guess the TT length? The seat tube is 56.5cm center to center. Some pretty curious custom geometry here, never came across a frame built like this before!

Yeah, and sadly note the crash damage, feel buckling on the tubes behind the headtube too sadly. The stem is also stuck, not only the stem itself, but the bolt literally was too. I drilled the head off and knocked the rest and the expander down with a punch.

Kinda sad I guess, spx tubing, not that old I figure also = english threaded BB (making it post 1995), the brake cable routing, 130 drop out spacing.

Is SPX heat-treated? If so, forget about cold-setting it. If not, you may be in luck.

My Italian is.. well I know very little Italian, but the decal states: "acciaio cromo cyclex" and " forzi elicoidali" along with special super butted.
I know marinoni mixed a lot of different tubing types together so I'd take the decal with a grain of salt anyways. the buckling is very slight on the top tube (barely feel it), the downtube you feel it a bit more, as you actually due notice it, its really not evident by eyeballing it on either tubes.

"acciaio cromo cyclex" probably "cyclex" chrom-moly steel
" forzi elicoidali" = "helical forces" huh? (or could be strong and helical multiple masculine things)

probably'd be easier just to find the catalogue ...

A sad Noni, indeed. I am lucky enough to own a Squadra which is my regular ride for around town use. The bike is of 2000 - 2002 vintage and in near mint shape. I love the bike, both in function and appearance. I hope mine never looks like yours.

I have straightened out top and down tubes with some success, however; the TT on yours looks to be beyond my ability to repair, short of replacing the tubes.

So, whats the story on the collision or was the guy 'just riding along' when the fork spontaneously bent back?

I've had one with a strange geometry too, some toe overlap but it rides nicely

I did not think any of the Columbus tubes were heat treated. would this have been done by the builder after the frame was brazed? or before?

it must be the angle or my pixels but I can't see the TT/DT damage

love2pedal: I am not sure what exactly happened, I was some hearing some ancient crash stories and my understanding is he basically ran over another cyclist that went down in front of him, unless I got the names mixed up. this thing was owned by a trackie. Interesting we have a road training circuit 1km and this guy set the fastest flying kilo record in 1997 with that frame above which still stands today, our club resident trackie tried to break it the other night but was about 4 or 5 seconds off his pace.

mainducoyote: ahah.. I think that frame was designed for motor pacing, think of how close you can get behind the motor pacer with that thing, ultimate slip streaming.

bianchigirl: the damage to the tubes wouldnt come up in photos, it is by no means sever, if this frame didnt have a 60.5cm top tube I would be riding it right now, without much worry about the buckling.

OH OK I kept looking and looking. the TT did look a bit long but again I thought it was just the angles too bad.
