RB-1 Porn (Purists need not apply).

Decided it's about time I had some alone time with the new RB-1.

Some of you may remember my red '94 RB-1 that had these components on it. Well, I found a '93 frame in pristine condition (I actually like the '93 graphics better anyway) so I swapped components. I love this bike.

Excuse the dirt here and there. I ride the thing daily so it's not spotless.

Now I'm still deciding what to do with the '94. Thinking about putting a 2011 105 triple group on it and letting it be the Mt. Diablo machine.

Wow, that's lovely, I'm moderately aroused! Great photos also, can you describe your lighting setup?

Thanks. They're all lit with a 2x3' soft box and a gridded light. The setup is different for each shot.

I like the bouldering wall as a background. Top notch bike as well.
Thank you as well. The wall is in a multi-use space I share with friends. Still learning on it.

Very nice bike! (makes it hard when they are in my size range). I dig the climbing wall too!

Cheers,
Chris

The DA parts and the Bridgestone decaling are perfect compliments. This is one frame which - I dare say - looks better in a modern build than period.

i like the build. It looks great and really compliments the frame. I'll agree I like the 93 graphics better than the 94.

very nice looking. say, a friend of mine has a purple and whilte rb1 that says synergy on the top tube. it has a crazy mix of parts and he says that it isnt as good of quality as some he has seen. he kind of wants to sell it to me but i was wondering if there were "inferior" rb1s made? thanks. sorry for the slight side track

So... where do you live, exactly?

I kid, I kid. That bike is gorgeous. The 2010 Ultegra, that Nitto stem, the wheels, everything about that bike is too nice. I'm extremely envious.

It's a 6600 crank because I think the 6700 is ugly. And the RD is a DA 7700 for the same reason. When I bought the group I read up on where the real performance improvements were made and it was really only in the shifters, brakes and FD.

I only have experience with the 93 and 94 RB-1's so I can't speak for the ride quality of others. I know that the 93 and 94 have a significantly different fork from other years but I think the Ishiwata steel tubeset is the same throughout.
