Gorgeous bike... and you are pretty handsome too.

We share similar tastes in bikes and bags... from a tweedy ride a few years ago.

Haha

the picture was taken in a raquetball court during a mutiday supported ride. It was tempting, but out of respect, I didn't ride the bike on the court.

I have posted several pictures in this thread..
Well, at 72, I get perks, so here is another one.
I am with the wife(boss) on Atlantic City Broadwalk. She is riding 85 Raleigh Competition, I am riding 85 Raleigh Prestige. Real windy that day too, and she fell.

Nice pics of you and the old Raleigh bikes Keith. It is especially nice to see that your Carradice bag is weathered to the point that the color is nearly identical to that of the one I use on my Norman. As an aside, I just counted the Carradice bags I have and it turns out I now have ten of them. Of that number there are two that are from the 1960's or 1970's that I bought NOS from an eBay seller in England.

I'm doing enough miles now that I want to be comfortable when I ride. It's rare these days that I go for a ride that's less than 30 miles, so I'm just in the habit of kitting up now. Go figure!

My friend gave me that bag... and think he got it used so I am the third owner.

He took it across North America on tour some years ago and having just the one means it gets moved around from bike to bike to bike.

Not to be outdone by cehowardGS and his sweetie (though he beats me chronologically), I'll post this from today's 28.9 mile ride. Temperature about 38degF at the time:

cehowardGS, keep on riding! You two look great! (I hope she wasn't hurt in the fall.)

Jim, you got me smiling big time. You and your lady are doing it big, big time, and looking dam good too!!

Bill Gates might have all the money, but he ain't got none of this!!

Naw, she wasn't hurt in the fall, but she was hard headed. It was super windy and I told her not to ride.. She did anyway. Paid the price too. Nothing but pride was hurt..

When I grow up, I wanna be just like you!!

I visited my folks over the holidays (and also to celebrate my father's 70th) and started flipping through photo albums and reminiscing. In the process, I came across some old pics. Here's one of me on my 1980 Super Course, in 1982 at a citizen's open race. I'm in the yellow jersey with blue trim and navy campy hat. Note the stylin' skid lid in the background.

ce, that's the nicest thing anyone has said about since I stopped volunteering to wash the dishes. Thank you! But you don't need to grow up. I do my best not to.

Any time you find yourself in the Boston area, drop me a line and I'll try to arrange a ride (if I'm in town - my employer sometimes yanks my chain, alas). None of my bikes will be big enough for you, but maybe one can be stretched. We can at least down some of those suds!

don;t really have much in the way of current photos of me.
This one is from '05, when I was 57, right around when I first joined BF.
I was 2 months into re-entry after a somewhat serious motocycle mishap which laid me up for 6 mos.
Was my first 60+ miler with some solid climbing in the Goleta/Santa Barbara area - got in 64 ish miles and about 6K of climbing.
I was very stoked to be back on the bike...

This is one of my Colnagos - an early '81-ish Saronni style Super I got in May '80 from an Eastern Distributor I had a relationship with.
It was not a stock super, but had been built to be more long distance road race for use on the continent - eventually ended up in the US and the distributor wasn't inclined to send it to a shop - hence I snagged it. Was my road race machine for the rest of '80 and thru end '83, at which point I 'retired' it in lieu of a new Colnago Master.
I'm not a collector, but of the many bikes I've ridden and raced, a few have hidden away in the closets. Like my cats, it's hard to throw then out. Most are not garage queens, but they are solid, sound and well taken care of mechanically. Thy're all great remembrances of a lot of crazy times and adventures, and that's what its really all about.
7 yrs older, I'm a lot uglier, a little shorter and a lot more hair on my ears and nose...
I'll try to get a decent pic in the next few weeks, all the ones I have from recent are either ass shots in a group ride or a head shot in a group pose.

Awesome bike, awesome pictures. I haven't been over to that factory in five years or so, glad to see it's still standing.

That factory is less than a half mile from where my father was born and raised. My grandfather worked for Westfield/Columbia for his entire adult life and never owned a car, just walked or rode his Columbia. I wish my father was more into bikes and saved some stuff my grandfather used to have from those days. All I really have left is a Centennial edition road bike (late 70's junk) and an 80's coaster brake cruiser (also pretty low quality). Somewhere I have a picture of my dad as a teenager riding a late 60's Columbia tandem solo from the stoker's seat...I wish that bike was still around.
