Always nice to see another 974 and another proud owner!
Mine is a 1989 Schwinn 974 (aka Meth People) but you wouldn't think they were once alike, after mine was stolen and recovered, I decided to customize it a bit. All the details can be found at my velospace page:

I'll update this posting soon with a picture of me on one of my bikes (or I'll draw one until I find a decent pic). Sorry about posting without a pic, it won't load for some reason, I'll keep at it.

Not me, but our 12 year old riding the Humbucker drop-off on the Amasa Back, then threading needle through 4 guys walking their bikes. Given the exposure off to the left, this is definitely a pic mom is not going to see!

Um, yeah. Which is a shame, 'cause it's an awesome shot.

Wow Jan, that's crazy awesome. Almost as beautiful as New Jersey.

I don't think I've replied to this yet...
Me and my Stella:
70 miles into a 120 mile day: (the bike for this trip was my Univega Activa)
Edit: and those 974s are really neat!

Thanks for the replies to the MTB shot. Let me quickly clarify a few details: Photo credit should go to Tyson Swasey, world class trials rider and a skilled camera man (and also the stunt rider in '127 Hours', Danny Boyle's film about a local epic). And second, I wasn't even present as my complete lack of body coordination would have resulted in either embarrassment or hospitalization.

^^ Ah look at that big smile! A proud moment. The Comp looks great BTW. I hope to find a Centurion in my size one of these days.

An awesome shot no matter who took it, thanks for posting, Wow. And your son needs to wear a "HTFU" jersey for all those guys to read that he rode passed.

From another ride on the American River Bike Trail --1/27/11
For those of you getting hammered this winter, this too shall
pass.
The bicycle is a '73 (?) Raleigh Competition recently passed
to me in a swap from its original owner, who after all these
years finally had to admit to himself that it was just too big
a frame for him. (I have had similar issues in my own life.)
Truly, it is an ill wind that blows no one some good.

Thumbs up!
I'll be making another pilgrimage back to Moab in May with a group of friends. We'll be staying for a shorter time than 2010, but will be riding Amasa Back among others that were missed last year.
This picture gets me all giddy with excitement.

I just finished a rebuild, including new (well, different... still C&V) wheels and dérailleurs, and I'll post pictures of it somewhere once I manage to take some decent ones. This bike is basically my first foray into restoration... Eventually, I'll be performing further changes, but I can't afford to do everything at once (college budget), and I need to keep it ridable, since it's my only road bike.

Beautiful, unseasonably warm day here in Salt Lake City. I took the Marinoni for a spin.

I think I will eventually put a SS freewheel on the S3X - the fixed gear is okay, but for the way I ride the bike, a freewheel would be a better match.
I have ridden with light loads and the bike handles very well. Not so with heavy loads - the geometry really isn't a front-weight oriented design.
The rack itself is superb - I've test loaded it with 50 pounds and it was solid.
Oh - great pic, too! I love the pose.

Myself and my wife (Alison) in front of the civil war museum in Richmond, Va. earlier today. Alison ran in a huge (40,000 people! ) 10K race in the morning and then we tooled around town on our bikes.
